It is good news for owners of LS460 and and not so good news for somebody who got LS500. LS460 is not that reliable though...

Look at the statistics. The LS460 is without a doubt the most reliable flagship car you can buy. Reliable doesnt mean problem free.

Then statistics, you are referring, is wrong. Reliable cars do not have main brake module fail at early mileage. Reliable cars do not have valve spring problems or early suspension problems, or a ton vibration issues some of which are still not resolved. LS is a comfortable vehicle but it is not reliable.

If I could afford to buy new one and actually bought it. I would be so pissed with all the problems these cars had in the past. I am not sure what alternatives to a new LS are and I do not really care. I can't afford a new or even low mileage LS any away. I am not complaining but stating a fact.

I watched it yesterday. It was a pretty good video. Reinforces my decision a few years back to by a 2010.

Then go buy a BMW 7 Series and come talk to me LOL. Repair statistics are not wrong. You have to compare the LS to similar cars. Would you like me to point you to the types of early failures that are posted about on the S Class forum? How about turbo failures or total loss of coolant on BMW 750s with 20k miles? Perspective is important.

The LS is the most reliable flagship luxury sedan you can buy, fact. It is not a Camry, its far more complex and thus has more to go wrong, and it won't remain perfect after 10+ years no. As someone who did buy two of them no, no reason to be pissed they served me very well.

If I was going to buy a flagship luxury car to own for 10+ years with no warranty, the LS is the only one I would even consider. Remember Im an S Class owner now.

So what is it exactly that you want out of a car? If you want a car of this caliber, the LS is the most reliable one you can buy. If youre not going to buy an LS, a 'deutsch" car is the only option.

It's funny I thought about getting a 2008-2012 LS460L. I'm aiming for the ones with the brake actuator replaced and have seen a few with it done, but then saw the youtube video and it really pointed out to me how dated they were. I'd only consider a 2013-2017 now.

I don't see too many older 10+ yr old German cars on the roads in my neighborhood. I wouldn't take a chance with them. I'd get a 10+ year old Lexus without hesitation. You really can't count wear and tear items after 10 years as it being unreliable. If you are not mechanically inclined and relied only on wear and tear items repairs done by the dealership only then you may consider it expensive to own and therefore unreliable. In my 2 1/2 years of ownership, I'd say I did about $5000 in repairs myself. 1/2 were "necessary" repairs such as leaking radiator, serpentine belt tensioner, rear trunk motor and HID lights. The other repairs and cost were spaced out to make the car drive like new.

Spending time with the S Class folks they're more reliable than I thought, BUT they are much more expensive than the LS to work on which makes repairs a lot more costly. Still, 10 years I would choose the LS.
