Default Rotors

I just purchased Centric brake pads for my wife's 2014 LS460. Today, the Lexus dealer told my wife the car also needed new rotors. Don't know if are really required - but, my wife now says the rotors have to be replaced - along with the brake pads.

What brand of rotors do you folks recommend? What brand of rotors have you had the most success with?

Thanks

After 2.5 years and about 75k miles I will tell you that if you drive this car hard on the highway, in traffic situations, it simply eats and warps rotors in 5-10k miles. Just a cost of doing business. Does your wife drive fast?

Right know I have Powerstop drilled and slotted all the way around. They've been good and look very cool, but after a few months I'm getting the old wobble as always. Protip: just change the front ones and it should cure the pulsation/wobble. Very easy to diy as well to save a ton.

My wife is not an aggressive driver. Car is almost 6 years old and just turned 60,000 miles. Mileage is about half city and half highway.

Rotors do not warp. Pad material transfers onto the rotor.

i put Akebono ceramic pads and new centric rotors for stronger brakes and little pad transfer

Thanks for the information.

Which model Centric rotors did you use? Also - on the Rock Auto website - the list a bunch of different Centric rotors - some are listed for RWD some are for AWD and some indicate they are for front left - and some are for front right. Does all this matter? I thought the front rotors were interchangeable - but if need to be purchased for specific AWD and right and left - then that's what I'll get.

All due respect, but this is not true. I've seen brand new rotors off the shelf that are warped.

I would definitely replace the rotors too, Centric premium rotors, cheap, high quality.

He's correct, the issue you mention is an entirely different issue, its the rotors being poorly manufactured and not being true.

Brakes on a car do not get hot enough to "warp" the shape of the rotor.

I replaced mine with Centric Premium through Carid. I received them the next day. They seem to use local sources for parts so the shipping was reasonable. The total cost was less than Rock Auto or Amazon Prime. I did purchase the wrong size (touring edition - larger rotors) and the return/replacement was quick and simple. I have been using Wagner Thermoquiet pads - quick and consistent bite with predictable results. They do the job with low dust, but are not high performance.

The OEM rotors are priced comparable to aftermarket ones.
Ask for a 20% discount and get 'em for about $80.

I bought R1 concepts for my 2013 Ls460 f sport. Front and rear rotors with pads. It take 2 weeks to get here because it is made to order. The red mess is from the Maguire rims cleaner. It change color after 1 minute.

I had just ordered some R1's as well. Liking it so far. I had before some power slot ones that lasted a good 40k miles prior to these. Hopefully i can get more but i've noticed myself slamming on the brake a bit too much, that cant be good.

Except that the aftermarket rotors are better rotors...

10,000 miles so far on these Centric rotors and pads without any issues. I might swap the rotors to slotted ones for looks when time to replace these Centric rotors.

The parts listed are for AWD.
