TPMS Replacement by Discount Tire?
I had a TPMS sensor in my 2010 LS600hL fail last week (as indicated by the flashing TPMS indicator), and when I called around to figure out the best/cheapest alternative to having it replaced, I happened upon my local Discount Tire store. Other repair places I called quoted a price of $120 or so to replace a sensor, but Discount Tire quoted $60. I didn't bother calling my local Lexus dealer, as I know how "proud" they are of their service work (big $$$).
I had used Discount Tire for all my tire needs, and have always been happy with how well they take care of my car. I was admittedly skeptical at first that their generic TPMS sensors would be compatible with my LS, but the manager convinced me that they would work just fine, and would come with a full 6-year warranty, so I figured I'd give it a shot.
The Discount Tire tech used a diagnostic tool to test each of my TPMS sensors (including the spare), and he discovered that 2 of the sensors had died and that 1 other one was reading as low battery. I figured since they were all the same age (over 9 years), it would make sense to simply have them all replaced. The manager said he could drop the price to $45 per sensor if I wanted to replace all 5 at once. I said "go for it!"
I watched the techs replace the sensors, and even gave them a hand pulling my spare out (to make sure they didn't scratch my back bumper). They did a great job, and were done in <60 minutes. They used their scanner device to scan the new TPMS sensors, and plugged into the cars ODBC port to get everything registered. No more TPMS fault on the dash, and all of the tire pressures showed up on the display! Problem solved!T
Just wanted to share this story for others who might need to have their TPMS sensors replaced. My total cost for replacing all 5 of them was $225, which I thought was pretty good. I'm not affiliated with Discount Tire in any way, just appreciate a bargain!

GREAT INFO! ^^^^
I had my "aftermarket sensors" replaced at COSTCO over a year ago when I had new Michelins installed and they are still working well. Costco will also troubleshoot and replace TPMS sensors even if you don’t buy tires from them...... Avoid the Lexus dealer for these type of repairs "IF" you want to save your hard earned money.

Any tire place these days can replace them. I use Town Fare Tire here, and I had one go out, and it was like $47 to replace it. I see no need to replace all 4 (well 5, as the spare has ones too) unless they are having an issue.
I just purchased a set of 18 inch oem wheels with winter tires on it for my car, it came with sensors but are not being read by my car for some reason
do I need to get them recalibrated in order to get them to function on my 2008? they are originally from a 2007 460

I usually do this service myself. Buy 4 OEM denso/pacific sensor from Rockauto at $34 a piece. I have an Autel scanner for $160 that I trigger the sensors to come on so i can check the battery life, then i program each sensor to each wheel of my vehicle. This takes about 5-7 mins.
I then go to discount tire for them to put the sensors on the wheel (that took bout 45 mins or so) I tell them not to mess with anything on my car programming wise bc it's been done already.

They installed 4 new VDO REDI -Sensor but that didn't work. Had them program it twice but my car will not show the tire pressure on the display cluster. They partnered up with the local dealer to get it up and running.

I recently got the same service done at the Discount Tire in Richmond VAR 2. Andrew G was that associate that helped me, he's awesome.

Finding this thread I think I was overcharged at Discount tire.
Figured about time to replace them. Went with oem since found on sale for about 67.00 each. Then took the car to discount tire. Bill was 340.00. 14 to dismount tire and 40 each to balance.
So 5 wheels.

Thank you for your business! We apologize for the situation and the concern,
We would certainly like to look into this further. PM coming your way
Discount has done it for free for me. Rockauto sells OEM sensors for $32-35 a pop. I use an Autel TPMS scanner to register the sensor to the car and also to put it in the correct location on the screen (2007-2012). 2013+ figures out the location itself
Discount Tire did the TPMS for my wife's 16 LX570 at a significant discount compared to what the Lexus dealership would have charged.
Unfortunately Discount Tire didn't do a great job with balancing the tires but they sorted it out afterwards!
