I've been considering fitting a rear dashcam. Having looked at this thread and the photo in it, I'm considering a B1W, as it is cheap, has good video quality, and most critically should be small enough not to interfere with the power sunshade.
However, where would I tap in for power? The front camera is powered by a fuse tap in the driver's footwell, with the cable routed through A-pillar and headliner. However, the rear passenger area has no fuse box; rear fuse boxes are in the trunk. Is it possible to route a cable in there, or must I look at some other solution?
Are you only fitting a rear dashcam and no front dashcam? I would reccomend a 2 channel dashcam and the rear one is powered off of and controlled by the front one.
I already have a rather good front dashcam (A119S), so I'm not considering a 2 channel setup.
That approach doesn't make much sense to me. A lot of the value of having front and rear dashcams is having the video stored and timed together. I'm not sure why you would want two separate dashcam systems...
To answer your question though, you would need to wire it all the way back to the fuse panel in the front of the car to do it properly.
I'm just not interested in spending a money on a new 2CH setup now since I already have a good front cam. I'll consider an upgrade when there is a suitable product available, but for now the 4K cameras I've seen sample videos of have not had convincing low light performance.
So it's not possible to run a cable down the left C-pillar and into the trunk?

The new Thinkware 4K camera has very good low light performance, and their rear camera is 2K.

Not and wire it in properly no, because theres no fuse panel in the trunk. You could splice it into existing wiring but that wouldnt be the proper way to wire it.

I'm assuming OP is wondering why he can't tap the trunk fusebox (this is from the manual in my 2012):
Of these, box A has fuses for such things like cigarette lighter and power outlet, one of which I would happily tap. Box B has 30-180A fuses for bigger stuff, box C has a main 200A fuse.
I was hoping it'd be possible to route the cable like this somehow:

Unfortunately I have a fridge/coolbox there, and with the hybrid battery and rear seat climate control things, I'm not sure any LS600h has a ski passthrough.
