Default My Rear Window Has Defeated Me

the inside of the rear window that is on my 07 460

with the sun behind me the rear window looks repulsive, clouded, swirled

from what I have read it is 12 years of the car's interior releasing plastic gases

I give up, I have first tried Windex and newspaper, then bought a stick with triangular pad and tried to clean it with lacquer per a local detailer's suggestion

this morning was climb back there attempt number 6 days in a row, this time with dishwashing scouring pads and Dawn detergent

I give up, I cannot get it even 30% clean

anyone ever deal with this and succeed, help?

if its not tinted you can go to town with it, i.e rubbing alcohol, clay bar etc, magic eraser if its not tinted you can do a whole bunch to it, check youtube sweet project cars and videos on how to super clean windshield and you can do the same. except the razor blades because of the curvature.

If you believe it's plastic residue from gases, then you'll want to try different solvents. Acetone. Paint Stripper. Goof Off. I wouldn't use anything abrasive like a scrubby because you could ruin the glass.

I have won the Battle of the Glass this morning!

GOOF OFF !!

That stuff removes anything!

Thanks for your thoughts!

Good news! I forgot to mention that solvents are very dangerous--I hope you used gloves and didn't breath the fumes!

Perhaps CLEANING your windows a bit more often than every 12 years might be helpful.

If only I had known the original owner better perhaps he would have allowed me to clean it for the 12 years prior to my buying from him!

What about the heated rear window and antenna traces on the inside of the rear glass?
