LS Tire Issue
Hello All. Newbie here, but not new to cars and tires. I also own a GX460, an IS250, and have had several other German land yachts. I just bought a 2013 LS460 Base last month with 19 inch wheels (245/35/19). When I bought the car I put on a set of Continental Procontact LS, and had them removed quickly because they refused to road force balance. (Really high numbers in the 40s). I had all the wheels checked, the suspension looked at, and everything checked out OK. I am now running Pirelli Cinturato P7 All season plus, which have balanced really well. Recently, I drove another car with the OEM Michelin Energy MXV4 S8, and they actually felt better over most impacts. My question is, should I dump the Pirellis and buy a set of OEM? What has been everyone's experience with tires on the LS460? I am looking to get the smoothest most comfortable ride I possibly can. THANKS!

I have the Pirelli Cinturato P7 and have used them on several other cars past and present. They are fantastic IMO. The highest rated for a comfortable/soft ride.

I would venture to say any difference is all about tire pressure. What tire pressure are you running?
You won't find a better riding tire than the P7 most likely. Tires that ride as well sure, but not a better riding tire.

Costco told me that whatever rubber compound is in the Pirellii’s caused them to be not patchable,
replaced both our Sc and the LS tires with Michelin primacies, major improvement.
Michelin primacy tour would be my next choice when I get to swapping my 18’s for 19’s coming up.

Costco told me they would not install the Michelin Primacy's in a 245/45/R19 on my 2010 LS 460L as they are only a V rated tire and the LS requires a W/Y rated tire? The P7's that I have on it now are only a V rated tire.

Also BS, the LS comes with V rated tires from the factory.
Lesson is, Costco has no idea what they're talking about lol

It might be BS but when the Costco Service Tech says: Sorry Sir we can't install that tire on your car I guess you take him at his word?

i won't venture to say that Discount Tire employees graduate from Tire University but in my experience every time they were more knowledgeable and more professional than Costco Tire center employees.
I do not work for neither do I get perks from DT and did not purchase my current set there

You leave and go to a real tire shop. Costco has a bunch of weird rules, and nobody there is actually a mechanic so they don't think about them logically. You don't want those tires on your car anyways, if you go with a Michelin, you want the Primacy Tour A/S, issue with them is they only come in a W speed rating in the LS' 19" size and I'm not sure how that would impact ride quality.

Here are the latest Consumer Reports tire ratings, if anyone's interested.
