I've always used Yakima racks and had good luck with them. Barely used ones are all over ebay and C/L for steep discounts off of new pricing. As a season pass skier, I get a lot of days and traveling with gear. My LS won't be getting used as a ski vehicle though. Company SUV takes care of that
How many skis do you need to bring? If not too many just use the trunk pass through with some towels covering the rear arm rest to catch the dripping and a Weathertech type mat in the trunk.
Hi DedBirdDog,
Do you remember the measurement for the Round Bar of Yakima on the roof of your LS? 58" or 66"?
Did you have Q Tower system as well ?
Thank you,

In case he doesn't answer ... I'm pretty sure that the 58" Yakima round bars will be far more than long enough since the 48" Yakima round bars on Q towers fit the 2000 LS400 I used to have with about an inch on each side extending outboard of the Q tower bracket. I just measured the Yakima bars to verify that they're 48".Originally Posted by Igoboe

Although the 48" Yakima round bars might fit your LS460, it might be better to get 58" round bars unless you can verify that the 48" round bars fit.
Or follow Dolph1's advice and use the pass through from the trunk. We've retired from skiing but I remember that the insides of our zippered ski sleeves are coated with vinyl and never leaked melting snow/slush.
I hated carrying skis on roof racks due to the wind roar they cause. I can tolerate the noise for a few miles but we were driving 600+ miles at highway speeds to get to the slopes. If we were still skiing and couldn't carry our skis inside, I'd probably use a receiver hitch mounted ski rack so I didn't have to listen to the noise. There are even ski attachments for some hitch mount bike racks.

I don't use my LS for skiing...I have a company SUV that gets that duty. I checked the Yakima site and it looks like you'll need the 58" bars for sure.

Here's a link to installation instructions for the LS460 roof rack sold by Lexus dealers in Europe: https://www.lexus-tech.eu/aimuploads...3-F0611-GA.pdf
And here is a link to installation instructions for the ski holder that attaches to it: https://www.lexus-tech.eu/aimuploads...0001-346-0.pdf
I've bought a lot of parts from non-U.S. car dealers both in person and by phone ... usually not too difficult.
If you go with 58" Yakima cross bars, I suggest that you have them cut down so they don't extend outboard of the roof. It's usually not a problem when long cross bars are used on SUV's due to the higher height of their roofs but when used on sedans, passengers have to be extra careful not to contact the ends of the cross bars with their heads/faces when entering the vehicle. This was especially a problem when I used my 48" Yakima cross bars on my narrow little "ski car" 1985 Honda CRX Si during the last half of the 1980's. The cross bars stuck out so far that they were dangerous although nobody ever poked there eye out getting into the car - I didn't think to cut them down so they didn't stick out.
