Default Michelin Premier A/S

Has anyone have any experience with these tires on their LS 460?

I have them on my 600 and love them. I started a thread in early Spring that I have been remiss to update but will. I needed to have their balancing (and RFV) revisited a couple times (I feel everything) and did not want to update CL until things were rectified. That was resolved a few months back, summer came, and well, here we are...

At any rate, at the time, I was seeking input on these vs. the Pirelli Cinturato P7 Plus that many rave about: comparable reviews across multiple dimensions on the basis of some data I got from Tirerack, though purportedly better stopping distance on wet pavement. This was recently posted about by a different member, confirming that finding after the tires had some wear.

The tires are remarkably quiet and smooth and do feel quite sure-footed in the rain. I don't know how they behave in snow (though the reviews are promising... I think the P7s may have a slight edge here, though), and I avoid taking the car out in snow anyway. I tend to take off ramps quickly (when no one is around), especially considering the size and weight of this car, and again I feel like my yacht is on rails with little-to-no squealing from the tires.

I could say more, but in a nutshell, I would certainly recommend them.

Thanks for that input. I have always been a fan of Michelin's, specifically the Primacy MXV4's. I was told the Premier A/S were replacements for the Primacy MXV4's so just wanted to make sure if they're just as good as the MXV4's if not better (since it's a newer version). Also, the consensus here on CL seems to favor the Pirelli P7's so wanted to see if anyone had experience with the Premier's.

I have been very happy with the Pirelli P7 Plus on both an LS 430 (18") and LS 460 (19"). That said, I've always been a Michelin guy and was excited to learn the Premier AS finally became available in 245/45/19 last March. Still limited reviews and comparisons from CLers but the following thread indicates the new technology and tread design of the Premier AS really does work. I plan to try the Premier AS when I need new tires next Summer. I still have 6/32nds left on the P7 Plus.

I went from the Primacy to the Premier A/S on my LS430 - very similar tire. DIdn't notice any difference one way or another - so if you like the Primacy, I'd go for the Premier A/S. The big thing for me is comfort, road noise, and confidence in heavy rains which happen daily in the FL summers. I currently have the Michelin Energy MXV4 (245/45/19) on my LS460 and have been happy with them as well. They look to be relatively similar to the Premier A/S and are the same price on Tire Rack- my 460 came with a pretty new set of the Energy when I bought it and I'd consider buying another set of them. Not sure what type of mileage I'll get out of them since I don't know how used they were when I bought the car- I used to get around 40k to 50k miles on my Primacy and Premier.

I don't think you can go wrong with either the Premier A/S or the Cinturato P7 Plus for this car. Both are excellent grand touring tires, and both are very well suited to the LS. If you're a Michelin guy, get the Premier. The Premier hasn't been available in the LS size until recently, and I think its still not available in the 18" size. I'm a Michelin guy too, had it been available before I bought my first set of P7s I probably would have gotten them. I'm so satisfied with the P7s though after multiple sets it would be hard for me to roll the dice on something different.

I haven't looked lately, but I think the Premiers are more expensive aren't they?

Roughly $275/tire on TireRack. The P7 is $225/tire. I've read enough great reviews on here of the P7 that I'd give them a shot - if they're comparable to the Michelin but save $200 it's a win/win.

Yeah $200 is $200. I'm normally a Michelin guy, but I have had nothing but good experiences with these tires. No issues balancing them (thats where Michelin excels IMHO), they stay quiet as they age. Treadwear is good, I get about 40k until they get to 4/32nds which is when I replace tires, I'm sure if you were willing to go to 2/32nds you could get 60k+
