Default 2010 LS 460 Compass Problem

Anybody have a 2010 Lexus LS 460 and the compass does not show up in the rear view mirror and never did? How to re-calibrate the compass that has worked fine in the past when it is in the top left corner of the Navigation Window?

I thought we didn't have that compass in the mirror due to having Navigation. Just off the top of my head, that's what comes to mind...

If you mean that the compass on the screen need calibrating, I am not sure it can be. I do know there are 2 settings, one keeps the compass arrow always pointing up, and you tell which direction you are going by the arrow on the map. You can set it so the map arrow always shows you moving straight up, and the compass will move. AT least that is the way it is on my 07. I have tried it both ways, and prefer the compass arrow to remain locked in place and figure out the directions from the map as it turns. This is opposite of most phone app gps systems, which always show you driving straight up the map from bottom to top.

Maybe I missed the last 2 words of the original post. But yes, in the owner's manual, I'm almost certain I've noticed a compass calibration process. Which included doing big ole smokie doughnuts. OK, Ok, ok … no tire smoking necessary, but driving in a circle or two while in some kind of calibration mode.

To display the compass in the mirror, do this:

To turn the compass on or off, press and hold the “AUTO” button on the mirror housing for more than 3 seconds.

There is a calibration procedure for the compass on the Nav screen that involves driving in circles, but I don't have the Nav manual handy right now.

As I recall when I got my 2010 LS 460L back in 2014 I asked this same question and the answer was that if you have the Nav system there is no compass in the mirror. I understood it to be on base 460's with no Nav only. I tried everything in the book and nothing. So if you get it let us know.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, guess that is my situation. Will live with that until getting a new Lexus. Thread can be eliminated now.

I have the same question and am wondering if anyone knows if the mirror can be swapped out with one that has the compass built in or is it more complicated than that...?
