Lexus is like Apple, “it just works”.
I noticed that in many cars like the G90, G80, S550, 750li, A8, (just to name a few). There are many features that can be acquired to ones liking in them. For instance, surround view camera, heads up display, color changing lights in the interior, panoramic moonroof, apple CarPlay and android auto, etc, etc. I wish Lexus would’ve implemented android auto and Apple CarPlay in my 2013 LS, but I’m perfectly fine without it
. The simplistic cabin is so feature rich and luxurious, it really makes you appreciate the attention to detail and engineering craftsmanship that was put into this masterpiece. I’ve had over 20 cars since 2000, and none of those cars could compare to my 2 Lexi
. Even though in some of those cars it had features that my LS don’t have. I noticed that it’s pretty hard to find (if any) cheap quality materials in this car. I do wish my satellite radio reception was better like in my Hyundai’s, but that’s just one of a few flaws in this car. My Hyundai’s was pretty rock solid, but didn’t feel premium on the LS level. Now the G90 on the other hand is a real sleeper, but we’ll have to see how it holds up in 5 years down the road. I didn’t like that when I went to the dealership for scheduled maintenance, every so often I was charged for a carbon cleaning amongst other things that made my bills almost $400.
I really like that it literally takes only a few seconds for my AC to start blowing the perfect temperature air when I get in the car. Seats are super comfortable (I wish it had massaging in front) and everything I touch feels amazing.
The air suspension is phenomenal if you like a pillow type ride like myself. I wanted a silver exterior, but now after owning my black LS for a few months, I’m starting to feel why It’s one of the best colors out.
Maybe Lexus just stick with what works and don’t break in the longterm. It’s cost effective and we all know most times the first thing to go bad is something electronic.

And much like Apple, everything is locked down to prevent the owners, us, from doing much of anything to them concerning repairs/improvements/personalization.
Some of this can be bypassed with Techstream, sure, but some of it appears to be hard wired/hard coded. Relying on a manufacturer-only tool, however, is crippling to those of us who've worked on cars since they were kids.
This bugs me to no end, being an IT-guy for the past 20 years (in the industry).
I wish it were more Android-like, because when it doesn't work, and the time will come, it's unbelievably frustrating trying to get around 'safeguards' in order to fix it. Hell, sometimes even diagnosis is borderline impossible.
As an example...to replace wear parts like suspension struts should NOT require a trip to the dealer to reset the computer's baseline data and recalibrate said suspension. However, I've been in this technology hell for several weeks.
Don't get me wrong, when it works, I love it, but I'm also not the type to replace things the second a new one appears. I was using a flip phone until July 2016. It did what I needed...be a mobile telephone.

I’m no mechanic, but I wish some of the things were easier to work on as well. I have friends that’s mechanics that didn’t want to touch my 07 LS when I was having problems wit the tranny, and the dealership wanted over $12,000 to fix it.

"It just works" is the reason im still driving Lexus
I need a car that works , to take me to work and get me around and no one does it better then Lexus , but to be honest I do relate with some people who say its a little on the boring side.
I think the americans are taking charge of the auto game again and they don't appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
Zl1s, hellcats, vipers , vettes , stangs etc.... there are countless options out there and all at a reasonable price

I agree with the idea. Over the past few year I don't think apple brought any exciting features to their product. I am still buying it only because it works. Even when it does not, there are many apple stores in my city that can solve the problem In a short time.
For the past 10 years. The only time I have problem with apple product was my mother's iPad mini the touching screen did not work.

I think it's crazy how long Toyota/Lexus have taken to finally get on board with Android Auto, but to be fair to your point, Android Auto launched in March 2015. It couldn't have been in your 2013 LS.
