Default Windshield Washer Fluid

Hey Guys and Gals,
What brand windshield washer fluid do you refill your tank with...does it even matter?

I heard some people including myself had trouble with Rain -X brand. It does something to fluid level sensor inside the tank causing false
display for low fluid. When I had the problem I blow the fluid to churn it to clear the error. I thought violent movement of fluid and air cleaned
the sensor. Audi techs. even told me avoid Rain-X brand. Nut I don't know if Rain-X chaned their product formula.

I use Kristall Klar. It's pretty good quality and less expensive than buying a gallon of other products because it's concentrated so you mix it yourself.

I never knew the LS has a sensor for this!

I try to avoid using the windshield wiper fluid on the LS just because I don't like it splashing onto the rest of the car, plus that unsightly arc line of dirt left over, lol. Same reason I've never bothered to use the headlight washers. On the LS I will either clean the whole windshield by hand or wash the car later.

Last year we were driving home on this rural stretch of road and went miles through a swarm of nighttime bugs. Never saw that before but the carnage on the windshield really did obscure the view so of course I had to test the windshield washer fluid at that time. The LS was then promptly washed the next morning.

I personally have found the cheap stuff works better than the expensive stuff, if anything.

I use the cheap blue washer fluid from Wally World and add a "washer booster" (Wurth, P21, Sonax) and have no complaints..... I use it in ALL my vehicles with no complaints. I add the booster right into the gallon and mark the bottle as "BOOSTED"

BTW! I have tried the Rainex WINTER washer "de icer" fluid in my work truck years ago and it this fluid is worthless...... Don’t waste your money!

I only use Toyota genuine windshield fluid. It's not the cheapest but it is the factory fill in our cars and most compatible with the complex washer system in the LS. I can usually find it on ebay for less than $25 a gallon shipped.

When you live in cold climate like where I am in winter we don't have a choice. On Tuesday we go early snow storm. City got dumped with 8 inches of wet white stuff. Fortunately it was not that cold.

Freezes in the cold, doesn't flash and evaporate the way washer fluid does either.

When the light come on, I just go back to the shop at work (perks of working at a dealership) and pull washer fluid out of the 55 gal drum we have there... Will hold just over a gal to fill it up. With the Texas sized bugs around here a working washer is a must for at least half the year. Can't stand spots in front of my vision from mud or from bug carnage.
