Default 35k service problems found

I bought my 2009 Lexus LS460 with 30k miles on it. Looks pristine. Purchased from Mercedes Benz of Plano for about 22k and opted in to purchase a aftermarket warranty with entire vehicle coverage with a 200 dollar deductible. This past week took it in for 35k service and unfortunately they found front leaking struts, non air, and wheels to be unbalanced. I was shocked as the mileage of the car was so low and that Mercedes of Plano didn't catch these issues. Truly glad I purchased the warranty and the techs truly road test vehicles. Will keep you all posted.

It's not that they didn't 'catch' these issues, it's that fixing those things requires funds, and they'd rather make the money, instead, and hope the purchaser doesn't notice.

Wheel balance is no big deal...that should be done at every rotation (6K-8K miles), but the struts...bummer.

My rears are leaking, and I have air. Parts, alone, are going to be about $1,400. It'll take a couple of hours to do it, maybe more because the rear seat must come out, but I'd still rather have air.

I guess the seals on the struts have a time-limited life and not mileage-limited.

You don't know the struts were leaking 5,000 miles ago when they checked the car over. Also tire balance is a normal maintenance procedure. If this is all they found your in great shape and should be happy.

That could be a possibility. Any idea on what the replacement of a non air suspension struts on the front of the car would be including labor and part at the dealership?

If out of warranty, why take to a stealership? If you want OEM parts search Lexuspartsnow for a decent price and take those parts to an independent shop in your area. If you don’t care about OEM then see if Rockauto has something that fits.

More than the $200 deductible anywhere. At the dealer could be a thousand. Their probably not even bad.

Sorry, didn’t see you purchased the aftermarket warranty. Did you go with CNA or another vendor? I would be interested to hear how the process goes if you use the warranty at a Lexus dealership. If only. $200 deductible then take it to a Lexus dealer every time. I think that $200 deductible will be paid each time you bring the car in for warranty work. I have never used a 3rd party warranty, so please keep us updated on the process. Thanks.

So a big apology to everyone including Mercedes Benz of Plano. The Park Place Lexus Rep read off the wrong car screen. My car has no issues. As far a the warranty I had them replace the rubber truck opener. It was about 600 dollars. Warranty covered everything except deductible. Warranty is through Allstate.
