No sound from CD player

No sound from CD player
Haven’t used the sound system for a long time. Tried to play cd yesterday. Screen shows cd play in progress but without any sound even at high volume setting. Radio and hdd play beautifully as normal. Wonder any hint as to what might have caused this. Thanks a lot.
