CD player has no sound
I have a 2007 GS 350 ML. Recently the CD player has no sound. It plays the cd and you can change tracks, yet no sound comes out. While the cd is playing, you don't have the ability to change the volume. Sound does come out on the radio and XM. When I play a MP3 CD sound does come out and i can change the volume. Funny thing is, when i'm playing a cd and hit a small pothole or road marker sound comes back on. Don't know if it's a loose wire or something. Can someone please help?
Sounds like a wire might have slipped out, you might need to get to the back of the unit or bring it in to service. There is a DIY on the forum on vaistech that should help you on how to take it out to get to the unplugged wire.

What was the outcome of this - did you manage to sort out the problem? Where was the fault in the end? I have exactly the same fault and symptoms with my LS600hL (2009 model). Amazing car notwithstanding this fault! Thanks
How did you determine it was a blown amp? That does not make any sense unless the CD play uses a different amp than everything else? I would assume the radio and the CD player uses the same amp? Did putting a new amp in fix the issue for you or did the dealer just say it was a bad amp?
I have the same car and issue as the OP.. radio has sound and mp3 cd has sound but not a store bought cd. I'm not sure what actually happens, but going by how I fixed it it must be a loose wire.
what I did was I finally got mad and I gave the front and side of the console a few hits and it started working
lol
The side, as in the leather part that runs from the foot well all the way to center console. I used the side of my fist to hit into the passenger side of the console and it started playing. Not saying that was a good idea, but the sound has gone out again (probably from a bump in the road) and I have done the same process to fix it again.
I'm probably going to take the head out one day to check connections but I just haven't done it.
I have read several threads on this issue but none of the "amp" issues made sense as my radio/cd player would work. One suggestion that playing an mp3 cd (i.e. with 100 tracks) will cause the computer to get confused and not play other types of media made a little sense, but that turned out not to be MY issue.
