2010 460L Brake Replacement - EBC or Power Sport
Hey All - I recently added this to our home fleet, yes she is a beauty with Air Suspension and I love it....
So, she has an issue with braking that appears to be somewhat common from what I am reading. When I slowly press the brake pedal, the brakes engage nice and smooth without any issues. If I slam the brakes hard and fast the brakes grab however, it is not smooth they grab/ bite and almost jerk then gradually slow the car down. It is only when I slam or press them very fast and not gradual. I am tempted to replace all the rotors and pads with an EBC or Power Sport kit but really do not want to spend the $$$ if a replacement will not correct the problem. Has anyone had a similar issue? Did you replace the pads and rotors and if so did it correct the issue?
On a separate note has anyone replaced with EBC rotors and red pads or Power Sport and are you happy?

Here you go everything you ever wanted to know about replacing pads, rotors etc.

You will see my postings on my 2010 460L as well. Never did have the problem you described.

The "initial bite" problem is well-known around here and just about all aftermarket rotor+pad combos have proven to make the braking much more linear. I have the Centric Premium setup, some have EBC, others have other setups, but everyone was happy with the results over OEM.
Also, good looking LS! Though I may be biased due to my own silver 2010 LWB :P

I have the same car, myself, though an '08 LWB, also silver. I also had the exact same brake behavior, and it's been truly annoying for a year, now.
I put EBC Yellow pads on my car a week ago, and it's literally like I'm driving a different vehicle.
The old pads were new and liked OEM. New rotors, too, the slotted ones. I don't need cross-drilled...that's less mass to absorb heat....
The EBC parts made everything incredibly linear with good feedback. No more super-aggressive bite...no "bite" at all, in fact, just super smooth pad-to-rotor contact.

Just replaced all OEM parts with EBC, front rotors & pads were 100% new. The pads which were in there were replaced immediately before I bought the car, because after 15K miles, they'd worn maybe a 1/16 of an inch.
Doing the rears tomorrow, if the parts arrive early enough. There wasn't any stock for the rear rotors on the Touring suspension, so they cut me some discs.
I'll update on dust, no worries. The first 150 miles were dusty, but I was also bedding them in and I think the 'brake in' coating is dustier than the primary pad material.
I get the feeling these are going to be somewhat dusty, however, I've owned two different W-series Mercedes cars in the past...and until you've had one of those, you have no idea what bad brake dust is like.
/shudder
Mind you, I got the yellow pads because I drive it like I stole it. Seriously, if I don't engage the VSC and/or the traction control at least 4-5 times per day, I must not be feeling well.
I had Redstuff pads on my '05 Cadillac STS (RWD), and those were essentially dust-free. It was pretty amazing.
