Quirky annoyances
So, I'm still adjusting into my new vehicle. A couple things have grabbed my attention that somewhat annoy me, although I'm not sure there is any solution for them. I have tried researching with no answer and wanted to just put it out here to see if anyone has an answer for either.
1) Park Assist warning beep. Is there any way to temporarily deactivate it or silence it. For instance, when going through a drive-thru it goes off unless I am a good distance away from the building. Need longer arms for that! I assume the only way to keep this from happening is to increase the distance or turn the volume off in info screen? Hoping there might be a quick method to tell it to turn off for that moment.
2) Updating the nav version. I have found through some reading that beginning in the '08 year software, they removed the need to have to press the "I agree" confirmation button every time you turn the system on. I know its just a simple push on a screen, but it drives me nuts having to do it every single time I start the vehicle. I guess my question would be how do I know what software I can update this model year to and can I do it myself by purchasing a DVD or is this only done at the dealership? I'm not sure what version is currently installed (need to dig into locating that info), but it obviously must not be recent in any sense of the word!

There is a button on left side of dash that turns off the Assist system.
You will need a dealer help to update the nav for that model year. I cannot remember where on the system you see the version number. You might have the original factory version and thats why you see the agree button.

Yep, looks like the map software has never received an update. I will contact my local dealership to see how much it costs for the update (just like the screen tells me to do!). Thanks again for the help.

Yes, I indeed was able to reach this hidden menu once I turned the Bluetooth off on my phone. I don't know what the majority of it means and I did not reset anything, but the colors bars and button test was fun. Does anything in these menus come in handy or is it just codes for the dealership to reference?

I last recall the price of the update was $169 plus labor. About $80 for labor is right. Careful, I've read some dealers charge more.
