Default 2014 ls460l

After deciding to return to Lexus when my 2013 Audi A8L went into electrical failure, I contacted 3 dealers and told them to be on the lookout for 2013-2014 that has the Ultra Luxury package and low miles. After waiting approx 2 months, the Sewell rep called and made my day. Not only does it have the UL package and <13k miles hi, but also the Advanced PCS, Adaptive Variable Air Suspension with Variable Gear Ratio Steering, Mark Levinson, LED headlamps with intelligent high beams & washers and couple of other options typically found on this model.

While there are many things that I enjoyed about the A8L, peace of mind supercedes everything. Traded my 2007 LS for the A8. Glad to be a member of the Lexus family again. 😁

Can you further describe your experience with the A8L. I know there are others, myself included who thought about going to that vehicle. Thanks. And welcome back.

I second that motion, since I'm curious... and it was on my list before...

Niiiiice! Mind if we ask how much they are asking? I've always been unimpressed by VW reliability (notwithstanding their recent accolades) - especially electronics. Let's hope the LS "floats your boat" again!

Default 2013 A8L Experience

When I started the vehicle all of the dash lights began to flash, but then it appeared all was normal. As I drove to work, the speedometer suddenly stopped working. I called Audi service and the person said it appears to be in electrical failure. Drove the car to the dealership and they had to put in a special code to turn the car off. At the end of the day, they attributed the issue to the battery which was $400+. Just don't feel secure with a car that responds in this manner. Never had an issue close to this with my previous LS or ES. Decided to dump it before it depreciated further.

Default Price for 2014 LS460L

Price was $56,988. MSRP was $99k. Credit Union provided market price of 58k. There were 5 people on the back-up list. Knowing this was a rare find, did not even attempt to negotiate further. Purchased my previous LS from Sewell Dallas and felt comfortable with the price given their reputation.

Unfortunately, our LS' tend to respond in a similar fashion when the battery starts to go, at least that's what I've seen reading through these forums.

In all my years as a previous Lexus owner, I never had that issue. Also, it bothered me that it took them 3 days to conclude it was the battery. I resolved to keep the Audi until the LS with the desired miles and options became available. It just happened sooner than I thought. The A8 is a beautiful car and a dream to drive.

Nice car! As for the electrical issues, that seems to happen to a lot of cars these days. Once the battery starts failing, things can get very strange. I've seen people on the Cadillac forum report similar issues, and the first thing we tell them to do is go have the battery tested.

Welcome to Club Lexus.

Congrats on the new car and I wish you good luck with it.

Normally I would always say negotiate, but I bet they wouldn't budge on that price, and you could have lost the car if you hesitated.

That's hilarious that you traded it in because of a battery. But congrats on the new car. I just got my 14 A8 L. What an exceptional machine. There is also nothing that special about the batteries. They are just big AGM's and can be had for about $150 but you should ideally reset the charging management system to maintain ideal battery life. I don't think the LS has this type of system. I never saw it in Techstream. VCDS is what everyone uses on Audi. The A8, LS, S Class, 7 Series, all the big luxury sedans all act wonky when the battery is failing. This is why I make it an every 3 year swap no matter if it's going bad or not. Honestly, it's so much better to have front massaging seats vs the rear. I can count on one had the amount of times I rode in the back of my vibrating seats in my old UL.
