Possibly changing the LS
I think with the whole debate on the G90 the purpose of this thread was lost. I'm only asking for opinions on the M56/Q70. I'm not considering any other car, it's either an M56/Q70 or a newer LS460. Either one I go with would definitely be used as I never buy new or lease.

Here's a comparison for 2014:

But the M/Q70 I wouldn't even consider as an LS replacement. It's nowhere near as nice a car.
Keep in mind, I'm content with the LS which is why my short list only includes those 2 cars. I would sacrifice some comfort and luxury for a sportier car which I believe the M/Q is. Also, I haven't test driven the M/Q since I just started researching it. I would like to get the 2013-17 LS but I think it will be out of my price range when I start shopping next year. I'm looking at the 2013 M56 as my newest option in terms of age. I won't be keeping either car for more than 2-3 years unless I really like it. As far as size, the LS is way more than I need since it's only my wife and I, so losing space isn't a big deal. I have been disappointed with the interior of the LS as far as build quality but I did take it in to the dealer to see if Lexus corporate will do a goodwill change of the interior panels. Forgive my inconsistency I'm just writing my thoughts. Maybe in the end I won't like the M/Q and just stick the LS but I want to keep that as an option.
Really, the best thing to do beyond armchair research is to see the car in person and drive it. I don't know, maybe a dealer would let you keep it for the day if you expressed an interest in buying it and put down a refundable deposit, contingent on your satisfaction with the PPI and driving experience with it.
I suspect you will know fairly quickly if the car is right for you.
