Default Battery Maintenance

Ok here is my question. Do those red and green felt pads that go on each battery post really work? Today the DW went to go to an appointment got in the LS and nothing. Nothing on the dash, she came in and got my fob, nothing. She took the Bronco II and left me with "fix it" Turns out the positive battery post was seriously corroded up. Popped the battery cover and there was the problem. Spent half hour cleaning it up really good. Put the battery charger on it and left it for a couple of hours and the LS fired right up.

Those pads are meant to help, but won't necessarily prevent corrosion in certain scenarios. They are a cheap preventative measure with little to no drawback.

However, it's best to use those in conjunction with other measures such as corrosion inhibitors, silicon dielectric compounds, or even petroleum jelly works well, etc.
