Default Auto Recirc

There's been quite a lot of discussion about this, I always found it annoying to have the system revert to auto after parking. My car seemed to do this even at cool temperatures, sub 20deg. C. I purchased a copy of Techstream (beware downloads - all the ones I found didn't work or were accompanied by malware!) Once connected I was able to access all the customization features listed in the owner's handbook, plus quite a few others, including setting the Auto Recirc to 'Manual'. Problem solved. My car is a 2008 model LS600, so I'm guessing LS460 has the same options, at least up till the model update in 2010. Maybe on other model lines too??
Hope this helps,
Pete

Can you do this with the Calista app as well?

This is even worse on the 2013+ models. It always defaults to recirculate.

I like the auto feature. I love the whole auto climate control . Not my first.
Set it and be done with it,
Only thing I do is turn off the compressor during the winter .

So what exactly is the process for setting the auto re circulation to manual. Mine is defaulting to re circulation and not fresh air. I remember my RX did that and I was able to change it though I don't recall how exactly.

Why would you "turn off the compressor during the winter?"

The compressor is an integral part of the process that prevents condensation from forming on the inside of the windows. The correct procedure is to leave it in AUTO year-round.

I agree and it also keeps you in the comfort zone by regulating the humility.
The compressor is not always on.

Perhaps it's peculiar to my LS460, but I find that the auto mode with A/C doesn't seem very accurate when you are looking to heat the interior, meaning that I have to set the temperature control higher than I would without the A/C on. (I can use auto mode with or without A/C, or so the indicator light says.)

That is my experience as well.

It is good to have the compressor run from time to time, in order to keep refrigerant (and the lubricant that's in it) circulating throughout the A/C system. In the moist climate I (and roadfrog) live in, it's also necessary in the winter to keep the glass clear.

I too have found that the auto temp wants to be a bit higher when the A/C is on. No biggie, though, since in my climate and driving patterns it almost never turns off. Either it's warm enough for A/C to be useful for cooling the interior or it's humid enough for A/C to be useful to dry the air.
