'07 LS460 with 150k miles
What would you pay for this? Looks to be in decent shape. The only thing it doesn't have is the parking assist and adaptive cruise.
What kind of repairs will I need if I get this? What would you pay? kbb says $12-14?

KBB says 12-14? That seems low to me, if you can get it for anything between those figures, I'd jump on it. I was going to suggest 17,000.
You shouldn't need major repairs at 150k. Of course look for the usual things...tire condition, brakes, suspension, etc. These cars tend to have control arm problems, but independent shops can handle that. There are some recalls that you are going to want to make sure have been done...valve spring, fuel lines, tensioner pulley. Other than that these cars are pretty reliable. They do have problems with wind noise around the mirror area, but there is an easy fix for that.

I would check values on Edmunds and NADA. KBB always seems to be the least accurate for some reason.
As for repairs, Doublebase pretty much covered it. You may need a water pump at some point, and I would check when the plugs were replaced.

Here are some more details:
water pump, ignition switch and seat motor were replaced.
Unsure about control arms (I assume I can look under the car for gasket cracking/ripping?). Oil change and tire rotation every 5k. All maintenance records.
Asking $16,900.
I just worry about huge costs for repair if anything goes wrong. My FIL has a '01 430 with 190k and it is a beautiful car. He babies it and I wouldn't hesitate to buy that one--but he isn't selling

If they're asking 16900, I would assume you could get it for 15k. If so, I'd snap it up. I would have it checked out by an independent shop first......compression check and perhaps the control arms. Don't be alarmed by the control arms. They can be replaced for under 1k dollars with aftermarket parts and installed by an independent.

I'd second the $16k figure as a fair price....here in Texas a 07 LS460 with 210k miles sold in 2 weeks for $15,999. As many mentioned, I'd double check on the control arms as the only other outstanding thing on that list.

I would not go over $15k if it's on original control arms.
Control arm bushings will likely need to be replaced if they haven't been already.
Park assist is worthless.
Many good reviews on radar cruise control.

Keep in mind you are buying an 8 year old car. No matter what has been replaced, these are high end luxury cars. They won't command the crazy high prices it takes to repair a BMW, but it's not cheap. At 150K miles, the car should be good to go for at least another 100K if not more. That doesn't mean you won't have to do repairs. Find yourself a good quality reasonably price mechanic and you should be fine.
I second the price at $15K. Actually settle on $15,500 and you'll have yourself a great car.

Sounds like a good deal. 430's still cost that and a bit more. I would also be wary of the suspension. As others mentioned you can always go aftermarket but usually when it comes to control arms aftermarket is a bad choice. Especially if they use polyurethane instead of urethane in their bushings.

I have to agree with this. The run from 150k to 250k miles would likely involve routine wear items and a few repairs. It could also be pretty expensive. A luxury car at this age and mileage demands a certain amount of guts to own. You'd have to be emotionally and financially prepared for the worst.
