Default LS460 Navigation System Upgrade

Has anyone out there upgraded to the 2014 version of the Nav system? I have the 2010 version and not sure if the upgrade is worth the cost. I have the ML Audio/Visual system.

Please search the threads, there was a recent (within the last month or so) thread regarding this and a sale that was happening in December.

Hey Madlad, the list of "updates" is here

http://www.lexusnavigation.com/map-information/

I just find I don't use my navi as much because of some limitations (I live in Dallas where road construction is a constant norm, so I would trust Google Maps to update the new roads more than my static Lexus Navi). Plus my iphone maps takes into consideration traffic patterns etc....

I know I went off topic there a little but I was in the same boat as you in determining "is it worth the cost" and this is how I reasoned no need to upgrade...

I have an 08 LS460. I took advantage of the end of the year nav update special. I have the latest version. Can't really see a difference. But from what I understand, it's good to upgrade every 5 years. Sure can't hurt for resale!

the lexus "upgrade" is only the maps and points of interest. i get the same "upgrade" for free on my iphone's navigation apps.

i wish lexus would come out with a real upgrade of the complete navigation system. I use my iphone's apps rather than the 1999 system in my ls.

I updated the maps in my 2007 LS460 just before Christmas for $99 plus $67 installation (being as original maps were from 2006). No obvious differences but I do see the occasional new road that was built during the last 10 years. I agree, I don't see why Lexus cant do "generation" firmware updates.

Keith, you don't have to touch that foolish "I AGREE" button any more!

That and the finish of the Boston Big Dig prompted me to update mine a couple years ago.

Hey everybody. New to the forum. Inaugural post!

Just did this exact thing this week. Updated the 2010 maps in my New (to me) 2011 LS460 AWD. came out to right about $200. It's worth it for my area. lots of new neighborhoods and restaurants in the area. I used to work for Infogroup - one of the companies that supplies data for the POI's. I can tell you that in a year a LOT changes with POI's. I figured it was worth it after 5 years. Probably won't do it every year though.

When did they get rid of the lawyer screen? Mine comes up at first startup but dissapears after 5 seconds or so. I think my update is a 2010 ver.

Is the "lawyer" screen a product of the vehicle year, or is it part of the nav update? The reason I ask is I found out my 08 nav had been updated in 2011. My warning screen comes on and goes away.

My 2010 (never updated) remains on until I click the acknowledge button...
I usually click it with both hands after I get to a speed of 60mph

Sorry, I still see the lawyer screen like for 3-5 secs, I meant no need to push 'I Agree' anymore to get rid of it. Sometimes it's the little things in life that can be huge in ways for some people and this is one of those things that applies to me.

Well then I guess the 2011 and on nav update takes care of having to press the button. My 08 has never asked me to push a button.

Lexus added the automatic push "I Agree' in later Nav updates and to lockout the service menu hack owners were using. One features in the service menu I found fun being able to turn on the rear camera without the car in reverse.
