Hit a deer on my way to work. It was actually hit by a dump truck right in front of me and then threw it into my lane, where I then struck it while it was skitting across the lanes of trafffic. I literally drove over it and it threw my car in the air about a foot at the front and then the back. It was a mess.
Body damage appeared to be just the bumper/lower fascia....right down to an antler protruding through it by the fog light. After a few pics for insurance purposes, I drove away with my partner to report for shift. As we drove along, I quickly realized that my ducts were throwing out cold air. No heat. It also appeared that some steam was coming out of the grill area. Also, my steering was making some weird sounds, as were the suspension components over bumps. When I got to work, steam continued to come from the grill area and red (or pink coolant) fluid dripping from the undercarriage. It was too dark to really see much.
Soooo, after a tow to the local GM dealership ( a good collision repair facility in my town) I await information on how much and what type of damage my car has suffered.
I am now the proud, temporary owner of a brand new Ford Fusion SE as a courtesy/rental. Sigh.
I feel your pain - I hit a deer a couple weeks ago with my 08 LWB. I got away a little easier than you, though...just ripped off the side mirror and dinged the front door. It bounced off me and then slammed into the guy behind me.
Everyone be careful out there. I guess I should be happy we don't have any moose in the DC area.
Dayum that sucks man and I feel your pain! It's mating season here and I have to keep my head on a swivel due to deer just running right in front of you without warning!!!! Glad it was not worse and you could walk away one thing I know from experience is the LS can take hit.

You're lucky - in the US we don't get complimentary loaners from body shops (they take too long to do the repairs)!
And, again, in the US most insurance companies consider a deer collision to be comprehensive coverage (not collision). So, if you don't have comprehensive coverage, the repairs are on your dime!
Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I lost one of my cars to a deer collision. Comprehensive will always cover the damage even it it's your fault. Having liability is on you because you can't sue a deer.
