Default 2010 AWD Suspension issues

Hi all,

I bout a 2010 AWD LS460 in July and immediately noticed noises coming from the rear and front. The rear was a loud thud going over certain bumps and the front is making rattling noises. I lowered the windows and went down a rather bumpy block and the car sound like the bottom is falling out. I took it to the dealer and they had it for 2 and 1/2 weeks waiting on the rear air shocks to come in. They gave it back to me and did not address the front. Now the service manager is going away for two weeks and wants me to come back if I still feel the need to have the from done. The master tech stated the front left suspension needs replacing. Bay Ridge Lexus in Brooklyn is really being a pain in the ***. I feel they are trying to drag this out so they dont have to pay for the repairs. Please give me some suggestions. The car has 80K and was bought from Bay Ridge Lexus and is not under CPO.

Did you have some type of warranty from Bay Ridge Lexus that was on the clock or was it bought as is?

Does the Lemon Law cover used vehicles? I thought that law only covered new vehicles? Did the window sticker show a warranty or as is?

I feel your pain - there is another thread that I have been posting on my 2010 issues. Mine is now in again after only a week - sounds like my struts again based on what the tech who rode with me said.

How many miles on your 2010 LS460 AWD. Our 83 year friend has the same car. She only has 26,000 miles on it but her 4 years of warranty are up the 29th of this month and I suggested to her that she should extend the warranty out

Ive got 72k on mine. I added it all up the other night and I am at over 15k in warranty repairs mostly on the suspension alone. when i bought the car new i got a great deal on the 6 yr 100k for about 2k so it was WELL worth it for me.

Default 2010ls awd

If you guys read all of the major complaints on this site, it appears that the Air Suspension is the biggest one. I have owned 3 Lexus vehicles, purchased new, all with standard suspension. Presently own a 2012 LS460 AWD. Owned a 2010 also, and a number of years prior an SC 400. For the last two I spent time searching for all of the options I wanted, and purposely selected the ones without A/S. It is not worth the headache to put myself in a situation were I may be looking at a problem. I have not had any problems with either of these cars. Hopefully, I will continue with my luck. If there is a trend with a given item, it seems it would be prudent to stay away from that option. The ride is exceptional in the vehicles that I have owned.

Do we think the a/s is more reliable with its alleged redesign in '13? Fingers crossed.

I could be wrong but the suspension wasn't updated along with all the other mechanical items. Only things updated were the interior and front bumper ,headlights, fenders, hood, rear bumper, lights, and trunk lid.

I may have assumed too much. Seems the words used in a number of model year 2013 LS460 F-Sport air susp reviews are "revised" and "modified."

They can be interpreted in a number of different ways, but I now wonder if their choice of words mean "less" than "more." As a potential future LS owner, the air suspension makes me nervous. My '02 GS430 (owned it for the past >9 years) has been nothing less than outstanding and I'd like to think the LS will be better yet.

I purchased my 2010 460L AWD as a new vehicle in early 2010. When I hit the 35,000-mile mark, I had the same experience as did "ducada". The dealer told me that the air suspension has electronically-tuned shock absorbers or struts. These shock absorbers or struts extend into the C pillar.

Fortunately, the approximately $9,000 of repairs / service were covered by the base warranty. I'll be extending my warranty....

I am somewhat confused here. My 2010 LS460L shows air/multi links on both the front and rear suspensions when I run the Vin tool on this forum. However I do not have the tuned shock absorbers which I believe is indicated by the switch showing Sport/Normal/Comfort. So I am thinking I have air bags but not electronically-tuned shock absorbers which I am guessing is where the problem comes in? I am not AWD. Am I right?

The A/S is a pain in the ***. I'm still having issues and the dealer state the car is fine. I want to swap it out for regular suspension like i did with my LS430 UL. Has any one heard of this being done on the 460?
