I agree with the AT&T thing..so I put it in "power user"mode.. it opens the app more quickly to allow for faster connection...it helps (but not much in rural areas) alot...especially if I have tons of apps already in use (which all the time)

 

I do for several reasons. 1. I need my house key and my my mailbox key with me, so it may as well be on my FOB. 2. I like having the FOB to open my trunk when I'm approaching with an arm full of groceries or my duty bag, etc.

For me, the smart card is a novelty. It's cool, but of little value in my case.

 

I pop the trunk with my phone, smart start app handles that too. My phone seems to be attached to my hand!

Did the RS install last week, works great... A takeover feature would be nice but it works just the same!

 

this just in.... as tomorrow OCT 1,2014 RSR 3X lock remote start will NO LONGER FUNCTION with the dball. you will now need to purchase a DEI 4x10 (4210V) OR 5X10 (5210V) which now cost about $100 or more.... (more like $150+)

The Idatalink ads-al-ca however is still avail with 3x lock start for a reasonable price... the only downside is its not a direct plug in match for the Smart Start to link your smart phone...

Yes already flashed (programmed) units are not affected..as of today units can no longer be flashed with the 3x lock RSR firmware..

As far as upgrades does this new firmware affect that ie : smart phone add on to current d-ball?

 

No Smart Start will still function to my knowledge. U only lose the ability to use the oem fob to activate the remote start. Basically they shot themselves in the foot with the dball rsr (it slowed alarm sales bcuz most people just wanted remote start as an add on) so they removed the oem option to force customers to buy additional products.

 

I too was just getting ready to pull the trigger. Does this mean we can no longer get the DBALL2 that has been pre-loaded with the correct firmware?
Even from Ebay sellers?....or perhaps from someone on here?

 

If they have already flashed module (flaahed prior to the 1st of Oct)then yes it'll work... anything flashed after wont work. (I've tried both a dball & dball2)no go....

 

I reached out Toby Broadfield whose name was provided earlier in this thread to inquire if maybe he had some modules that were flashed for the LS460 prior to October 1. He told me that he has the Dball2Pro module which is a little more expensive but can be flashed to provide remote start functionality with the factory key fob. He says that only the original Dball and Dball2 (non pro) are unable to be flashed. Has anyone else heard this?
