Default Pillar Air Bags.....

Will pillar pods to house tweeters interfere with the air bag operation on the 2007 LS'?

I want to keep the functionality of the air bags but don't want a speaker in the face if God forbid I need them. I'm not sure where the air bags come out of the pillars.

Although I would love to speculate on how the pillars are probably tethered to the car, so when the air bags deploy they don't rocket ship into your face and since it is a safety thing, I will not just guess since I am not qualified to answer the question. I would ask though, where did you find such a product? I am curious to see where you found that, and what kind of other stuff they have! Good luck

That's what I was thinking......wanted to see if anyone else has taken the pillar off to see how it activates.

Those pillars are custom and come from my favorite installer:

http://www.winning-jp.com/

Check out their Install page for more ideas ! They are the inspiration for all the systems I have.

Well based on what I seen after my accident last yr the curtains deployed higher than where the speaker is on your pic, here are two pics showing the aftermath. I'm thinking it might be possible to install it there.

Yea I'm good! I was fortunate to walk away sore, just know that we are riding in safe cars/tanks she took out the guardrail like a boss!

BTW the side curtain won't 'rocket ship into your face' just the side of your head to shoulder area, I know like that's any better.

The area and A Pillar where you want the speaker stays intact.

I have taken the pillar off my GS before and the pillar was tethered kind of like how our gas caps are. There was a rolled up airbag in there though, and it does say SRS on the pillar. Wonder why they didn't deploy in your LS.

Glad you are ok!

Thx! Good point, which made me search and found this thread with instructions on how to remove the A Pillar cover and it clearly shows a separate airbag rolled up in there from the one that came out in my car.

So looks like putting a speaker there might not be an option.
