Default tapping rear view mirror for power

Anyone has any pointers on tapping the rear view mirror to power a dash cam (or a radar detector) in a 2013 LS? I want to avoid running the wires all around to the power plug. As much as a read, prior to 2013 have a little plastic thingy on a mirror that slides out, which makes it easier - the 2013 is all enclosed. thanks!

Probably have to tap under headliner where wires are accessible

My brother pried apart his mirror to install his built-in radar behind/inside his mirror so that it shine through the front. it is very risky, but very clean looking.

You can tap into either the homelink panel:

(this is for the LS430 but they are all similar)

Or the mirror, but don't pry the mirror apart!

When I was researching on Blendmount mirror power tap, I found that not all dash cams have identical power jacks. This prompted me to halt hardwiring dash cam.

Yes, you will get 12 volts from any power source in the car (except a USB socket). Some dash cams use the 5 volt USB voltage while others use the 12 volt car voltage. Good point!
