Default AWD in Reverse?

Anyone know if a 460 AWD has AWD in reverse?

My first snow experience with my car was troubling. My new-to-me 2009 AWD got stuck on a flat surface in about 8 inches if snow last week when I tried to back up. I had no problem going forward in the same snow on the same surface. I was shocked and figured it was a onetime issue and had to be caused by something like ice under the snow. So I stopped and tried it again. Sure enough, I got stuck in reverse again. Tried again. Nope. Every time I tried it, it got stuck in reverse. Zero reverse traction in 8 inches of snow. I am not sure which wheels spun in reverse, but they did, I could hear them.

I tried it with the snow setting on and traction control off as well. No difference. Could it be the directional tires (Pilot sports) not working in reverse?

What gives? Do I have AWD in reverse or not?

The traction in reverse on an allwheel drive is not efficient like driving forward. The differential acts like an open differential in reverse

My hybrid doesn't have a reverse gear with the CVT setup but never had an issue in reverse but then again I haven't tried in snow

Not sure technically what an open differential does. Sorry. I will take it to mean no AWD in reverse. Just RWD?
