New owner 2010 Ls460L with new snow tires and new Lexus wheels and Lexus tpms sensors installed at local tire shop. Tire shop wants me to go to dealer, an hour away, to have new sensors programmed into car at $125.
I just bought a Quickset tool to program sensors but apparently they can only read data already programmed into car by Lexus dealer.
Is there a RFID sensor that could read the sensors and save the two visits, time, and charges?
They would have to remove the tires from the wheels to get to the sensors.
I hoped I could make changing summer /winter tires easy and dealer charge free.

No they don't. All you need to do is use the tire spoon or the tire mounting machine to push in the bead/pull the bead down and then the sensor can be removed.
I just went through this exercise. Bought 4 new 19" wheels, removed the TPMS sensors from the 18s with no drama, put in a regular valve stem and away we go.

I wrote down my sensor ID's on a piece of paper and reprogramming is simple. Right, the original Lexus diagnostic tool can read the actual sensor ID but neither the history nor those from former setup. System is Japanese not German
My dealer is doing the programming for free as part of an inspection. If he discontinues doing this I would buy a programming tool. Any suggestions which one? Are all compatible? I found this:
That is the one that I just purchased. Seems like it will be easy to use but, as I said, needs to download active tire sensor data from on board computer. So only works if tire sensors are active and programmed into car!
