Default interior rubbing noise over bumps. fix?

In the attached image, I circled an area in red. When going over bumps, I hear a soft but annoying rubbing noise.

Any clue how to fix this?

you should pop that trim piece off and insulate any areas where it might rub with some foam tape. that's the best a dealer tech will do

my dealer tosses it into the rear spare tire area -- there's a little cubby sized perfectly for that in the spare tire carrier

After several years on my LS430 I heard a rubbing noise every time I went over uneven pavement. Dealer looked and tried a number of solutions but nothing worked. Then one day, while cleaning the car, I rubbed some silicone lubricant on the rubber door molding (the part on the outside of the door that rubs against the painted surface) and the noise went away. The rubber had just dried out enough to make noise as the car flexed slightly over bumps.

Maybe the case with the 460 too now?

edarte,

a few times while driving, i've reached back there and forced my fingers between the door trim and pillar
(real fun). doing this stopped the noise. this morning i was trying to figure out how to get some foam tape into the problem area.

grabbed two different sizes of this stuff at home depot.

Can you post a pic how you solved the problem?
I'm facing the same problem.

TMOS, welcome to the club! Maybe another member will help with the pics of using the foam. In the meantime, have you tried something like silicone lubricant or armorall on the offending area?

Yes, I tried that already but it didn't last long and the rattle came back. I think I can only fix this problem by using foam.

Cjitty, you fixed the dash rattle with foam? Is there a special foam? Thanks.

There is a TSB out there for the 600s..involves new heavy duty clips on the firewall behind dash along with foam to secure dash..I think its thicker foam..cant tell you exact type used. I do know its major surgery involving dash to be disassembled to access behind it where the fix is

I was wrong about the rubbing area.

It's where the driver door meets the door frame.
Opposite side of where I circled in red.

In the past month, I've driven this car once, so I haven't messed with fixing it.
