I usually would do a couple coats, and it is a PITA with multiple spokes, but very much worth it. It lasts easily 3-4 months...i usually did two coats for the initial application..I hope your wheels were cool when you did it, not hot from driving

cjitty, yes they were cold. i actually removed each one from the car to wash and dry and apply 2 coats. made it a little easier to work over the wheels with them laying flat on the workbench in front of me. by the time i got all four done it turned into quite a project. but this is supposed to be fun, right?? ha ha. thanks for your help..........bud

Hi John,

I googled the pad kit part # 04465-0W151 and found a few hits already. Are you sure this is a "new" pad kit or just the normal replacement kit for the LS-460 Sport? Do you know if these pads were available last year as well?

I'm watching this thread with great interest since I've special ordered a 2012 LS-460 Sport and will take delivery in May.

Best regards,
Sandy

I was told by Lexus that they had changed/updated the shims to reduce this noise issue. Instead of replacing the shims they would replace the entire pad as all new pads have the new shims. I got several stories from different Lexus techs on these pads. So I'm not sure if the whole pads is updated or only the shim. Going on a long trip this weekend so this will be a good test. Keep you advised.

Thanks for the clarification, John. Makes sense. I'll be curious to hear how much noise and dust you experience on your trip. Travel safe.

Put about 1200 miles on the new pads/shims this weekend. Apperently the noise issue has been corrected as I had no squealing, but only time will tell as the squealing was intermittent. As for the brake dust it was hard to tell as we ran into some rain which made a mess of the wheels. I can live with the dust but couldn't live with the brake squealing. I will keep you advised as time goes on.

I just noticed one new aftermarket pad replacements for the LS-460 Sport (Brembo). Anyone heard of Posi Quiet and know if they are less dusty?

Default Expensive Brake Job

Hello All, I've been learning from you all for two years. In Oct 2010 I purchased a Green 2007 LS460 and loved it. It was my third lexus since 1998. Well I'm in the process of purchasing a 2010 LS460 with the sport option. I took it to the dealer today to get it checked out and my service advisor informed me that each time the car needs brakes it will cost $1200.00 for the front and $1200.00 for the rear. This being pads, rotors and labor. What do you think of this, I really like this car over my 2007. Help

Thanks Luke

Unhappy Brambo brakes

Well the squeal is back with the brambo brakes after 20,000 mile. Lexus replaced them once @ about 10,000 miles. Seems to be the left front. Anyone else had similar problems. Back to Lexus for solution. 2011 Ls 460 sport.

My car has under 4,000 miles and the squeaking is only heard with the driver's side window down and a little music playing. I was wondering if the 2013 is any better?

I have the '13 Ls460 F-Sport, got the car in December after the launch. I have 1800 miles thus far with no break squeal. Little to early to tall.
