Well my battery is just about dead. My car will probably not start when I go back outside tonight. I dont know what happened but it just started today.

I have 47K miles on my LS. I have about 500 miles left on my warranty.

Is the battery replacement covered under warranty? Just want to make sure before I go shell out some $$ for a new battery.

I just had my battery replaced. It failed a load test and the dealer replaced it under warranty. My car is 2 years old with 16K miles.

 

batteries usually have their own warranty that is pro rated after a point in time, not based on miles. If this is the original battery and you have less than 3 years on it they may replace it for free, or they may have you pay for the delta on the end of free period and the pro rated time your into.

You can certainly call and ask, but my guess would be no, unless you have a great relationship with your service adviser and he is wilingl to comp you a new one.

Under their CPO exclusions, batteries are not covered

The following components are specifically excluded from coverage under the Lexus Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty:

Standard Upkeep Items:
accessory drive belts, batteries, filters, fluids, heating and vacuum hoses, lines and tubes, tires, spark plugs, windshield wiper blades (rubber component).

 

If it's under your four year factory warranty, it's covered. At least that's what my dealer told me...

 

Thanks Guys. Just called Newport Lexus and they said its covered under my 4YR/48K mile warranty. I have 47,500 miles on my car so I guess it died just in time. Really odd that it would die like that out of the blue. Oh well. Taking it in tomorrow morning. Now let me go outside and look under the hood to find the battery because a jump in the morning will definitely be needed.

If your battery is dead because it will not hold a charge, I would not try to drive it by jump starting it. Most likely the alternator will not be able to produce and/or regulate electrical power to operate the car. It may start and run, but if you see dash indicator lights start to blink, be ready to have the engine quit on you.

BTW your warranty is for 50,000 miles, even if you're a second owner.

Really 50K miles? Why do I keep thinking 48K then?
