Default Shift lock hole

Hi guys,

I got a used car so not sure if there should be a cover or this is the way it is.. Can someone confirm? The little shift-lock hole, is there a cover? It's right next to the shift **** (on top of the Park (letter P)). See pic.

well i don't own the car anymore but i am playing from memory of all the cars i have worked on.

i am pretty sure at that location, there is a cover with a slat in the middle, where you can insert a flat-head screwdriver and pop it open. then you can insert the screw driver and force the shifter out of P
