Default Shift Lock Release Cover Missing

Noticed that the shift lock release cover is missing in my car. Leading me to think someone tried to steal my LS.

If you remove that cover you can press a button it allows you to put the car in neutral without turning it on, right?

Lets say who ever did this, did put the car in neutral....should i be worried about anything like the shifting or transmission problems in the future?

I did drive the car and everything seems normal

Part # 33554-50040. It's just a plastic cover, easy to break if you aren't careful, $2.20CAD at the dealership. I used mine several times before I broke the old one and after I got a new one. It helps to move the shifter out of the way when you need to take apart the nav system/cd player area, ie. to change bulbs or to re-route wiring for iPod integration kits.

You can shift to neutral or any other gear you like after you use the shift override button. There is nothing to worry about when shifting through any/all gears while the car is off and not moving.
