Hey everyone...I did a search but couldnt find an answer....I have noticed in the last few weeks, after cranking the AC ....I come to a park...come back an hour later and there is a huge puddle underneath the car..which seems like water...what could this be?...and leak is by the driver side door of the car.
It is water. It's simply condensation. The cold hoses from the a/c unit come in contact with the warm and humid air from outside and the vapor condenses into water. Just like water condenses on the outside of your glass of cold gin & tonic!
I'm guessing you're the target... Every air conditioning system discharges condensate water. As soon as the air gets chilled below the dew point water condenses out, and it has to go somewhere.....

Thanks....I didnt think this was the norm...dont experience this on any of my other cars..good to know thanks.
if your AC is running right all cars should do this to some extent. Some more than others, but like the folks are saying here, it has to go somewhere and all vehicles have drain hoses. They do get plugged up if you live in a humid area also and need to be cleaned out from time to time if you dont you may find water on the floor boards of your other vehicles :-)
From my years at UBC I recall the Vancouver weather is very seldom both very hot and humid. You may have simply not noticed water discharge from an AC unit before.
