Default Speaker Covers

Hello,

New LS460 owner and forum member.

I just purchased a 2007 LS460 and I anticipate using the services of this forum often. My first issue is the three rear speaker covers. Can anybody offer advise in removing these? I'd like to get them off to clean the fabric covering. They appear to be well mounted.

Regards,

Steve T.

you need to pull off the door panels. I ll see if I can find the page in the service manual if that would help and you want to clean them that badly :-)

It's the speakers on the rear pillars and the center speaker on the rear deck (Mark Levinson system). The car is immaculate with the exception of these covers for some reason. Their visible through the rear window and detract from the overall fine appearance of the vehicle.

your surround drivers and your sub then.

I believe the grille on the sub pulls straight up, at least it did on mine but then I just upgraded from a premium system not the ML.

what what happen if you just took a good strong vacuum and tried to pull off the lint or dust or whatever your seeing?

The cloth is stained with something that water and detergent will not remove. I was thinking of trying a spray carpet cleaner but not sure if this would damage the speakers hence my desire to remove the covers. I'll try pulling up on the sub cover to see if it lifts up.
