Default Mark Levinson rear deck speaker/sub - - - Issues

I really need to replace the stock Mark Levinson rear deack subwoofer I have in my 01 GS430, it is making all kinds of rattling noises depending on the bass level, has anyone replaced there subwoofer with an aftermarket upgrade?? Is this recommened and if so what brand and model did you use??

Thanks in advance for your help

I've got the exact same issue right now with my 01 GS300 with the ML system. I need a new sub because the guy I bought my car off of blew the speaker I think.

I'm having the same problem but only with high volumes, is it a subwoofer issue or just the grill and other stuff in the back rattling? Should i check to see if the speaker surround is broken or anything?

I used to own an old Q45 Infiniti. It had the same issue until I opened up the speaker housing and found a broken tab that would rattle around when the volumes got up there. It was already severed so I just took it out and the problem was solved!

Guys I just finished removing my rear deck and inspecting the ML 8" speaker. It turns out that the rubber lip that is attached to the cone seperated from the housing causing it to flap depending on the bass level. I reattached the lip and sealed the entire housing with Goop clear sealant (I used this because although it is dry it can still flex to allow the cone to move up and down.......I'm giving it a chance to dry now and will post the results later...

How do you remove the rear grill so that you can inspect the subwoofer?

Man I wish it was that easy!!! Unfortunately you have to remove the rear seat, the two pillars and then slide the rear deck out (The damn rear grill is a part of the deck ) ...With
the right tools its nothing....Check out Banana GS DIY page..(make a donation) http://lexusmodz.netfirms.com/

Oh yeah...The Goop worked great no more rattles
