engine sounds loud need help
If it is that I strongly suggest visiting the dealer ASAP and have it checked out. There has been a few reported instances of engine being loud and rough. It turned out be damaged valves and the rocker arms (?).
.If your that concerned bring it to the dealer and have them check it out,or compare it to another LS
Read the the thread linked below; I hope yours is not in the same category.

I complained of engine noise in my '07 LS460L even after TSB for defective pulley was performed. Generally I would hear engine noise when the HVAC was off (spring and fall of the year).
Turns out the noise is from the fuel system & lack of sound insulation. The dealer demonstrated the noise was "normal" by having me sit in other new LS460s running at idle. I was told the engine noise was a combination of:
1. Direct injection system uses a cam with a very large lobe which causes a noticable cyclical sound as the cam operates the pump. Sounds a bit like a diesel truck engine to me.
2. Less sound deadening is used (compared to previous three generations of LS) to transfer more engine sound to the passenger compartment in an attempt to compete with BMW. On hard acceleration the engine does sound better than previous LS generations but pales when compared to BMW and Audi. At idle though it sounds terrible.
This is my fourth LS (1990, 1997, 2001 & 2007) and by far the loudest. I want a return to the quiet days of the past. The LS historically was well regarded for its quiet interior. I think Lexus corporate/design is afraid of their shadow(s). Will creating a noisy cabin really help the LS compete? It's not working for me.

well another reason is that the crank and cams are ran off of chain instead of a belt like all past engines. and the a/c compressor doesnt have a clutch on it...so that must mean that they control the orifice before the evaporator...but the compressor is always turning lol.
IMO...the new GR motors are crap lol...theres TSB for the 3.5L with direct injection with the fuel tubes that run across the valley..and the LS has a even has a TSB for replacing cylinder heads...and on the 3.5L again there is a TSB for the VVT-I...which i have seen done...omg what a PITA that is! just hope the GR motors wont be as bad as the RX330 everything went wrong on the RX330 lol.

Please don't take offense at what I am about to say, I understand that you are sharing information that the dealer told you.
The idea that the poor sound isolation is "by design" sounds ridiculous to me. It sounds like a "sister story" to the wind noise issue that goes something like: "The reason that you hear the wind noise is because the car is so quiet." These are things that they tell you when they are out of ideas and solutions or when they think you are imaging this stuff. I think that these stories are made up at the dealerships. After I fixed my car it is exceptionally quiet. I bet my car was built in Japan by the same robots that built all the other cars.
I think if Lexus thought that "engine noise" inside the car was important, they are good enough technologist to put a microphone or microphones around the engine and exhaust to capture the sounds and project them through the ML sound system. Then those who wanted to hear it could turn it up until it knocked the windows out and the rest of us could turn it off.
Does anyone think that Lexus would let noise in intentionally? This is not a rhetorical question.

Before I had the windnoise fix my car sounded like I was driving with the windows open. I could hear everythingout side, other cars, road noise from the tires etc.
When you remove the plastic triganle there are 2 large rectagle holes that the clips go into. Those holes also alow noise to come right on the cabin. Jeff's fix also seals those holes and seals out the noise.
After Jeff's fix it sounded like a diffrent car. The car is now quiet. The car was built extremly quiet but they defibatly screwed up on the trangle peice.
