Yeah, sounds like the LS 430 Touring or LS 460 L Touring is the way to go in this case. The LS 460 in Europe and Asia gets the air suspension though.

I'm surprised they let you out for a test drive when you pulled into the dealer in your Ford Escort with 200K. Good luck on your search for your next car. I'm sure your Escort is very sporty with 200K LOL!

There is a story that is told around these parts about a guy named Spag. He started a Wal-Mart kind of store in the Central Mass area, and ended up being a multi-millionaire many times over. The store attracted crowds from all over the country, and since the place only accepted cash, it minted money. He and his wife owned a Lear Jet, but lived a pretty simple existence since he only had a high school education. This carried over to his clothing. He wore a ratty, straw, ten gallon hat, and a khaki work uniform (shirt and pants). He looked like a laborer.

One day, he walked into the Cadillac dealership up the street from his store to see about buying his wife a car. Since he looked as if he didn't have two nickels to rub together, the staff ignored him. When he finally asked for a salesman, the guy treated him with such a lack of respect, that he ended up walking out the door.

He ended up buying two top-of-the-line Caddy's at another dealership. I'm guessing that the local guy lost about 20 car sales over the next ten years by making judgments about things without having enough info.

Look. Stop feeling insecure. You bought an LS, or you want to buy an LS. Mazeltov. You personally like the car. That's all that counts. It matters nothing how I or anyone else feels about your wishes. Live your life as you see fit.

There's a member on this list that might let me ride in his LS460L touring when he comes to my area on business. I'm hoping for a positive outcome, and can't wait to see the car.

ZZZzzzzz.
You're too modest. You qualify in spades!

Another frustrated German car owner heard from who can't stand the fact that Lexus puts out a better car for 20% less.

I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but I agree with much of what Massshelti has to say about the stock LS460. Coming from a 2005 LS430 I was excited when the LS460 was finally in the showrooms. I took 2 prolonged test drives trying hard to convince myself that I needed to "upgrade", but I was sorely disappointed. I am also a BMW fan and currently own a 2007 328i which is a coupe. I need a 4-door sedan for family transportation. After the salesman told me that the new model handled "just like a BMW", I was disappointed in failing to detect any significant difference at all between the LS460 and the LS430 that I was currently driving. In fact I preferred the ride, size, and handling of the LS430 so that is what is currently still in my garage. I drive the BMW 75% of the time because it is FUN to drive. I use the LS430 when I have to. I have not driven the LS460 with the Touring Package so I have no opinion on that. I would like to try it but it has not been available in my area to drive. For what it's worth, my LS430 and my last 3 BMW's have been absolutely trouble-free as far as reliability goes.

Why the insult, especially when you don't know me from Adam? I expressed my opinion about the car, and gave my reasons. I didn't suggest that anyone else's opinion somehow lacked validity, nor did I suggest that I found fault with anyone who decided to purchase an LS. I simply stated my experience test driving the car. Perhaps I got a bit wordy, but I decided to have some fun with the post.

On the other hand, if you need to insult people to make yourself feel good, go for it. I'm not particularly bothered (I'm actually kind of amused). It's probably cheaper than paying a shrink $150 / hour to talk about whatever is bothering you.

Please keep it civil, guys. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but please refrain from insulting others.
