O.K. so I buy this GS430 for 58K and have nothing but trouble, so I talk my wife in to giving Lexus another chance and go buy the LS460. I come here and see several people complain about the new LS. So now what?

Lexus reps, if you monitor this forum I hope you see how many disappointed customers you have and send me a check for 58K for my broken down GS430 Don’t tell me to bring it in and we will fix it, I'm done with that. I've spent more time in your shop then at home or work in the last few months.

Signed,

Very unhappy Lexus owner.

P.S. Our 15 year 7 car relationship is about to end.

My only complaint is wind noise. The Lexus rep will be at my dealer replacing my two front windows on July 24th. This is my 5th Lexus.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear about your troubles, GS430X6.

However, don't be discouraged; most of the LS 460 owners are very satisfied with their cars. Yes, there is a wind noise issue with some models, but a fix is in the works.

In fact, I would venture to say that even a car as well-made as the LS will have its share of owners that have issues with some area or another of the car. No car is perfect, not even a Lexus. There are some first-year production issues on some models; other models are perfectly fine according to their owners. The LS still is very much a benchmark of quality and a top luxury car.

Was your GS 430 a first year model? CR suggested that the first year GS had some production issues.

Hopefully your GS experience will be an isolated one, and the LS one (should you choose to do so) will be a positive one!

In the mean time, I suggest you read more of this forum, you'll find many LS owners who are quite happy with their cars.

It was my hopes that my LS460 would be problem free but I also knew that a first year production car could have a few problems.

My car is perfect! No issues at all. If there is wind noise in my car, it is not enough for me to even notice or be concerned with.

If you think Lexus has problems, try buying a german car. While I have not had many issues with my german cars, there are a lot more reports problems with them.

Good luck in sorting out your problems.

I have seen problems with second year production cars. It is not so much the problem with a car it is the willingness and the ability of the car manufacture and service departments to fix them, in the past that is what has set some foreign brands a part from some American brands.

Buy a Land Rover and keep it for a few years. Then you will know how great Lexus is from a reliability standpoint.

Exactly and soooo true

It's the crappy service dept. and the dealerships that make any car ownership unpleasant.

Not even defending lexus, but like what Rocman and luxury1 and others said, go with germans and you'll know what were talking about.

But with the problems that lexus is having, it's nothing electrical or mechanical...so far

Default Here's my experience...

I now have 12,000kms (about 7,500mi). These are my unresolved discrepancies to date (just keeping notes for now):

1. Rear glove box - needs thicker rubber bumper; I fixed with felt pads.
2. Screech on hard accel - probably a tranny tune-up will fix.
3. Wind noise - it's there, but I expect a resolution sometime - no hurry.
4. LR tire leak - service couldn't find anything, probably faulty rim seal.
5. Front console box closer spring not closing tight (last inch) - needs tightening or new.
6. Front pax seatback motor jerky in lift mode - probably a wiring or motor issue.

All this points to teething pains, so I am not too concerned - it would certainly not affect my purchasing decision.

What I think is really sad is when people like GS430X6 expect that a car with 60,000 miles on it is going to be perfect (or any car for that matter) and then complain about it when it is not.

I would love to go to some of their companies and see if they operate perfectly and then encourage their customers to start complaining all of the time when things aren't just right...
