I think he meant that he purchased the car for $58,000, not that it has 58K miles on it.

He didn't specify the problems but I gather the impression that his GS had some serious issues. Consumer Reports docked Lexus for the first year GS' problems.

Hopefully the LS will escape this issue. I agree that no car is going to be absolutely perfect, although Lexus sure tries! There is always room for improvement.

the GS did have some quality issues here and there, which i was a bit disappointed about (not to mention the es350). i have a feeling that lexus is aware of it and taking some actions.

I would love to go to some of their companies and see if they operate perfectly and then encourage their customers to start complaining all of the time when things aren't just right...
luxury1, what I really think is sad is when people like you make stupid comments before fully understanding and absorbing what you read. I don't expect perfection but this car is a pig that cost me 58K. I wish you owned this car, then we could see how “you” would react.

Like I said I paid 58K. My GS only has 18,000 miles even if it did have 60,000 miles I should not be experiencing 7 repeat problems should I? I've had nothing but trouble since I drove it off the lot. I forget how many times my wife and I have been to the service department but I think around 8.

This is my 7th or 8th Lexus and all the ones before have been great! And most of them have been first year cars. Just appears to me after what has happened with this car and all the complaints I see on the net that Lexus is not pursuing perfection anymore.

If it is the same problem then you have grounds for lemon law.

I have had several cars that were terrible in reliability (Mercedes and BMW's) but I come to expect problems with every car I own. In an extreme case, I had a BMW that had a light on and needed service at 12 miles.

I hope you problems clear up and as an LS460 owner I can tell you that if you buy the 460 you will be very pleased.

I bought my aunt a GS300 back in 2003. She hasn't had a bit of trouble, ever.

Perhaps you got a lemon?

My wife's 1998 RX300 was first year production and perfect. The most trouble free vehicle I've ever owned.

My wife's 2004 Ford F-150 truck was first year production and has been terrific. One early drive train vibration I brought to the dealer's attention and they replaced the diff quickly, and the vehicle has been perfect in every way before and after.

My 2006 Ford Explorer was first year production and has been terrific also. One TSB I knew of for tranny software upgrade which I got done in a few minutes. Car has been perfect in every other way before and after.

The most impressive thing to me with the two Fords is ZERO squeaks, creaks, rattles - these things are tightly put together and the F-150 truck has pulled a horse trailer (with horse, lol) many times.

Anyway, my point is that Lexus quality is not good enough, and first year problems are no excuse, especially for this flagship model. The ORIGINAL LS400 was considered perfect. I remember how amazing the first gen ES was too, and the first gen GS.

The '98 2GS had lots of problems. The latest ES has problems, the '06 3GS had squeaks and rattles.

They had a ton of time to get this new LS right - I hope they resolve this problem SOON!

I won't commit myself to getting this car until the problems are taken care of to most people's satisfaction, & the newer owners are not complaining like the early adopters, even though I am looking to get the L version with a lot less complaints about the wind noise.

I think you mis-read his thread. He said he paid $58K for the car

I feel for you GS430X6... i had a re-accuring problem with my BMW 545i which the dealer couldn't fix either, so I sold it (lost money) and picked up a Pre-Owned LS430. Sometimes you get un-lucky, what can you do. Get rid of it, and get a LS460; top 3 Problem free car in the world in it's segment(J.D.Power). Hope for the best, and move on. Just be glad you can even afford such nice cars, look at all the junk that's out there that other people are driving

Try a Lincoln LSV8...that car had so much damn trouble...brakes catching on fire (wtf?) Alternator going out within first few months of owning it, it overheating almost everytime I started it, squeaking suspension, Traction control going ballistic and completely shutting off thottle response at highways speeds, interior lights shutting off, sometimes the headlights too...

More problems, but if you think the GS430 has issues, go buy a Lincoln or Land Rover.... Just pimp'd out FORDS.

+ None of the Ford dealerships could find anything wrong with the car when they looked at it. I even recorded some events on my camera and they couldnt tell what the problems were...retards.

Sounds like Lexus is like Microsoft. It takes them a few years to iron out bugs. Sorry to hear that you're having such problems. At least the transmission hasn't fallen out

My first Rx7 was a new 1982 GX - the car was already 5 years in production; it leaked like a sieve. Leave it out on a rainy night, and the next morning there was an inch of water on the floor, a problem they never were able to lick. I traded it in for new 1983 GX which was perfect in every way. I traded that one for a new 1984 GSL-SE, and it was also perfect. I also bought a new 1983 Supra, and it was a piece of ****; started bubble rusting everywhere, and the engine was nothing but trouble. Every manufacturer has skeltons in the closet; reliability comes at a price, and a lot of sweat in the engineering department. Nowadays, it's still a roll of the dice. Car manufacturing is an imperfect science, and it always will be.

I have had my LS460L since December (12,000 miles on it) and have not had any problems expressed by others with the exception of the wind noise issue which one member here mentioned to tap the down on the window just slightly which cut the noise down more than half of what I heard before.

When the fix comes out I will wait a little and then get it done.

The car has had NO problems and everything works perfect!!! I have changed the oil twice and ready for the next change coming up. That's all I have had to do with the car.

The transmission works great!!! Mark Levinson Stereo is a must!!!

NO complaints here.... I would buy this car over and over again....

Maybe I got the lucky one but I have spoken to a few other LS460L owners here in Las Vegas and they are not part of this board but in talking with them they have said the same as I am and that they too did not have any problems... They also didn't know what I was talking about when I asked them about wind noise.... Obviously these discussion threads make people more aware of the good and the bad with a car.
