Do you think Lexus is having NAV as an expensive option just to do people a favor and give them a choice? No they are making it an option so people will be forced to have to pay thousands of dollars extra for it...
Do you really think that just by calling it "standard" you will somehow pay less for it??? What planet are you living on? What's the difference whether you pay $3000 for an "option" or you pay a base price that is $3000 higher for a "standard feature". Regardless of how they market it, you better believe you're going to pay for it in the end. And if, as you say, it's so hard to get a car without it, then it is in fact, the standard version, you just have itemized charges.
Anyone remember the NAV on the LS400? Not only are they now woefully outdated and near unusable but if you were in the market for a used LS today you would almost certainly want one WITHOUT NAV since so many other important systems (audio, trip and climate) are tied to them. When the NAV goes out so does a lot of other stuff.
May not seem relevant now... and really isnt, but in another 10+ years it will interesting to see how desirable a non NAV 460 might be

I had a chance to buy a non-nav LS while I was looking but that also meant no backup camera or ML.
The LS460 without nav should be called the LS450. It's such an important part. It is very simple to use and worth the extra bucks. Don't leave home without it.
Buying a high end luxury vehicle like the LS should come fully loaded. The nav was optional on the older LS but standard on the newer LS's. The nav used to be an expensive option but now practical and a low cost option in economy vehicles. I wonder do customers order Bentleys without leather and wood?
Does anyone have a LS460 without navigation that can provide pictures of the radio. I have not seen any. My father in law is concerned about the complexity of the radio with the nav system and I would like to give some decent advice before his purchase.
TIA
Im pretty sure the navigation is a standard feature,it has to be...
