I must chime in and the LS 460 is the most beautiful LS yet. It is by far a gorgeous vehicle, and unlike some competitors, not a retread of a previous model year design.

same here, i like the look of the IS over the GS by a lot, but it's far from the LS imho. i asked my wife the same question as well and she said the LS looks way better than the IS.

afterall it's all subjective

The previous LS copied Mercedes, the new one copied the 7 series. Maybe they will try Jag next?

I agree the current design is the best so far, however, they need to stop getting influenced by other makes and come up with their own ideas.

I agree that it is a striking car and the most beautiful iteration of the LS yet. Don't get me wrong; I'm not recoiling in disgust by any means. The new LS is a good looking car.

BUT...it's not good-looking enough! Or should I say, unique looking enough. The competitive bar has been raised too high. The last several Benz's have blown me away, taking no time whatsoever to win my eyes over.

BMW, by contrast, is still recovering from its Bangle-isms. It's important to give them credit, however, for having taken that risk, in trying to really differentiate and galvanize their image. (And kudos to Adrian van Hooydonk for starting to turn things around beautifully over there!).

It's high time Lexus stuck their necks out. And I mean way out. Someone give that L-Finesse team some mind-altering drugs for inspiration, and slap their wrists every time they say "German."

Once and for all, start making a Lexus look like a Lexus. Not a Toyota; not a Mercedes; a Lexus.

Does a marque with so many other superlative attributes not deserve its own distinct look?? Why is a car without peers on so many levels still trying to look like its peers? What is it, a "superiority complex?" Do these guys feel they have to dumb the styling down a few pegs just to keep it fair for everyone else? We all know they have the ability to design stunning cars (they have excelled everywhere else)...I say they should go for the jugular!

I never have cared much for the way the LS's look. Of the two that I've owned, I actually prefer the looks of the '99 LS400 over my '03 LS430. It wasn't quite so over-reaching in trying to look like a luxury car.

The fact that I still prefer the Lexus LS and buy them is a testament to what I consider important when selecting a car.

External appearance is somewhat down on that list, although I'd sure like a slick looking car.

I think it is even better looking in person than in photos. That has been my experience with my black/black 460L. I've been amazed at how great it looks (with the chrome wheels) in person in direct sunlight. Stunning!!

Point taken. Lexus continues to forge its niche despite its ubiquity. Case in point: I will still probably get one.
