Size of LS 460 L Trunk
Just took delivery yesterday and will be packing for the winter away from Wisconsin. While I was getting ready to pack it became apparent that the trunk size of the 460L is smaller than the 430. Do we have any info regarding trunk space comparison between the 2?

From what I've heard, the LS460L trunk space without the rear seat upgrade (ice box etc,) is about the same as the LS430 ?
But with the upgrade package , it shrinks from about 18 cu.ft to 12 cu.ft . . . . . .

This is correct. The 460 is 18 cu. feet while the 460L with the upgraded rear seat package is 12 cu. feet. I was very concerned about this, but went ahead and got the 460L and am VERY GLAD I did as it is gorgeous, and the added room in the back seat if great.
The 12 cu. feet is fine - I'm able to fit all my weekly groceries in it with no problem. It's small, but big enough for my needs and if I ever have any "spillover" I'll find plenty of room in the back seat to put a piece or two of luggage, for example.

To me the reduced trunk space with the back seat upgrades is a big problem and makes no sense from a practical standpoint. Presumably, the only reason that you'd want the back seat upgrades is that you plan to carry passengers back there. Those passengers might have luggage. Twelve cubic feet of luggage space will often be insufficient for 4 passengers on a 1 week or longer road trip. One wonders what the trunk space will be on a LS600hL.

trunk space
I have the 460 LWB without the rear A/C but with the seat heaters, A/C, and the rear seat tilt/recline and I have more than enough trunk space. As posted here I am guessing that I have the 18 cu. ft trunk and I have no problem with the space. I just wanted to post this for those people who are reading all of these posts in order to make a purchase decision like I did.

The problem is they package the A/C seats together with the icebox, & you have to take those for the executive package too.
I personally don't care much for the ice-box, nor the AC/seats(with our climate), but I do think the reclining seat with ottoman & rear entertainment system of the executive package is very desirable to me. But they won't even take special orders to customize your option combinations, that's the downer.
I've seen the trunk in person, I think 12 cu. feet trunk space is enough for our purpose(not significantly smaller than that though,) since we no longer travel out of town by car, we prefer to fly, but there are others that do, that's why it's better if they allow more flexibility in choosing the options.
Yes, I do have a little concern about the trunkspace of the LS600hL, looking at the GS450h, 9 cu. ft is too small for a car this size.
