Default Mark Levinson‘s New 19-Speaker System

Mark Levinson‘s new 19-speaker system is to have Automatic Sound Levelling (ASL) .. where volume is kept constant at high or low speeds.

My current Cadillac and Corvette have this "automatic volume adjust." And, I'm sure that almost all other cars of recent years do, too. But, as near as I can tell, it doesn't work. When I slow down, I have to turn the volume down. When I speed up, I have to turn it up.

I'm sure the 430 has had this. How has it worked in the 430? It would be VERY nice to have an auto volume control that really worked.

The LS 430's ML system has ASL, but I don't know how it works...

The IS has ASL, but it isn't as efficient as I would like it to be.

Give it to the LS to get the best bells and whistles. Even though I have ASL or ventilated seats or dynamic cruise control, they still aren't good enough to even compare to the LS!

I think ASL works when there is noise from outside the car so it adjusts itself, but I can be wrong.

it definitely works, flawlessly on my gs400 and sc430. it detects the speed and wind noise around the car and adjust the volume accordingly. the ASL on my sc430 (ml) works a bit better than the pioneer system on my gs400

It worked very well on my GS. I don't use the one in the corvette, too busy listening to sweet exhaust! Nice to know theres another feature that doesn't work.

Off topic, but have you had the roof delamination issue?

ASL can be as simplistic as a set volume increase and decrease based on speed and/or engine RPM, or it can be as fancy as an in-cabin microphone that listens to all ambient noise and compensates that way.

Most ASL equipped vehicles have a way to adjust the sensetivity, too - as in if you just want it to increase/decrease the volume a little bit, or a lot more - you can set that.

Yeah, but at least the IS is more fun to drive! The LS is still a nice driving experience, just more 'mature.'
