I was thinking the same amount. I'm sure it's a way better car than the Mercedes S class and the BMW 7 series. We'll be getting a better car for our hard earned money. Can't wait till it comes out. Hopefully by September the LS 460 makes it's debut.

I think with the UL package it will be closer to $76-79K. If you get an UL with PCS and chrome wheels you are at $74 list today. That was the sticker on a showroom model I saw when I was in for a wash. ouch! Once it gets hybrid power I would bet another $7500 on top of that. Just guesses at this point.

Arent the current Ls 430s starting at 50k too? I think they could start at 55 and go upwards. I think that more and more that they raise they're prices some people might go with a BMW or Mercedes instead. Hopefully at Detriot we'll find out the starting price.

Default Awd?

It's not clear to me...will the new LS have AWD as an option right from the get-go or will that be a year (or more or less) later?

The LS460 is coming in 4 flavors. Here is the breakdown:-

1. LS460 - Cost $65,000 + packages

2. LS460 LWB - Cost $70,000 + packages

3. LS460 - SWB + AWD - Cost $74,000 + packages

4. LS460 - Hybrid + AWD + LWB - Cost $90,000 + Ultra Package = $105,000

Range $65K to $105K depending on package chosen

i was thinking the same thing, thats the argument that i give to ppl when trying to convince them lexus is the way to go.i understand that you have to pay to play, but i cant see the average person being able to afford the new cars which would be a sad thing. i just hope that lexusowners dont pick up the attitudes of SOME of the BMW and MB owners which i already see alot of on this board

seriously if someone can't really see the valud of lexus (price wise), i dont' really know what to do to help. once you add those options, yes it's more expensive, but still it's far cheaper than the same or even less equipped bmw or mb

personally i rather them to have all these options rather than few (or none) like acura

I am guessing the new LS will start around $60,000 to around $80,000.

im not arguing if it is worth the exctra vmoney b/c it most certainly is but in past years they offered comparble options besides the LWB and still was quite affordable. BMW and MB have stayed around 70-80k and 120-130k respectively while lexus is steadily climbing. Remember lexus was not just built on reliability it was also built on affordability. While im quite sure there are lots of ppl that can afford the extra 10-30k for the car and it would be well worth it i doubt that alot of ls owners would be able to afford it .

My two cents.. I think Lexus is trying to go more upscale than it already is. Look at the 8-speed transmission. They're obviously trying to be "more" than their competition (Mercedes, BMW). I think the LS460 is going to cost more than you think. The top model LS is going to be closer to the top model S-Class and 7-Series than ever before. I think Lexus' ultimate goal is to be on the same exact playing field regarding cost. Think about it.. For the same price as an S-Class or 7-Series, you can get better quality and reliability.. That's the plan...

So add $5,000.00 to what you think it's going to cost...

Here's my rundown on the pricing scheme:
Lexus LS460 Base: $60,000.00
Lexus LS460 Ultra Luxury: $80,000.00 loaded
Lexus LS460 Ultra Luxury, Long Wheel-Base: $85,000.00 loaded
Lexus LS460 Ultra Luxury, Long Wheel-Base, Hybrid: $95,000.00 loaded

Lexus isn't about "affordable" luxury anymore. That was 1989. Lexus is about Prestige now...

you havea good point there and i totally understand about the affordability. however i also agree with sal. i think that lexus is taking another step going up this time again. offering more and also putting the price higher. imho they no longer needs to put down their prices as much to attract people, coz' they have built up enough reputation to sustain its own. if people want value, there are other lexus models underneath to choose from. the ls is absolutely the top of the line flagship where lexus makes a statement
