Hello all, new member here. I have a 2009 Lexus LS 460. The radio power can only be turned on from the steering wheel and the volume can only be change from the steering wheel. All other radio functions work from the touch screen but nothing works from the head unit below the cd slot or *****. I check all fuses, pulled batter cables and still nothing. Ang suggestions?
Do you know if this applies to Mark Levinson systems /LS460 as well?
Or would the type not actually matter?
Same thing by the most part. It is the amplifier that makes all the difference between ML and basic systems. More channels, different EQ and DSP settings, all that stuff is from the ML amplifier. Head units are mostly the same on the inside and when it comes to not working buttons and such, probably wouldn't make whole lot of a difference for the repair shop.
I am not yet experiencing a problem, as I have not even decided yet on which actual 460/600 to buy, but when I do is it possible to safely drive the car if the screen is removed for repair?
I don't get involved very much with sound systems, especially the more modern ones with screens, so I am flying blind.

Depending on which LS you have. For example on my 2017 LS460 head unit also contains buttons for the climate control, defrosters, hazards and airbag indication so when I pulled my radio out I lost all these things. Older models have more traditional setup, so nothing except the music will be affected if head unit removed. See the difference on the photos.

Thanks for the images.
I am contemplating only up to 2009 models.
Being located in Australia, and potentially needing to ship the screen to the USA for repairs would result in the unit being in transit in either directions and actually under repair for possibly a month or more.
It is reassuring to know that an earlier model could still be driven.
