My trunk's been acting up, not latching shut. The other day, I was gassing up and saw it was a little open, which is weird 'cause it's motorized and usually opens all the way when I pop it, and you just hit a button to close it. I was in a hurry, so I just tried to push it closed myself. It looked shut, but when I got back in the car, the "trunk open" light was still on. So I got back out, tried the automatic close button, but it didn't work, so I tried to just close it by hand again. It wouldn't latch at first, so I slammed it, and then it finally did.
Next time I opened my trunk, a day or two later, the button still didn't work. So I tried to close it by hand again, but it wouldn't latch at all, even when I put my weight on it. So now it's just stuck open. I even tried messing with the latch with a small screwdriver and everything, but that didn't work. So I've had to rig up a bunch of bungee cords to keep it from popping open when I'm driving, but it's seriously driving me nuts.
I was hoping someone here might know a trick or two to get it back on track with the motor so it opens and closes automatically again, but if not, at least a solution to get it to latch manually. Thanks. It's a 2012 Lexus LS460 base for reference.
