Default Radio issue?

I noticed yesterday my radio unit wasn’t working, AM, FM, volume ****, steering wheel volume, nothing. The screen works & my music is still connected through an FM transmitter but otherwise i can’t adjust anything. That sections light is out (normally glows green) anyone experienced this? I pulled the fuse & will be replacing it today. I just don’t understand how a dead head unit would still be able to play music?

I don't have an answer for your problem, but the answer to how a dead head unit can still play music is because the head unit is just a face with controls. The actual FM tuner is in the trunk with the factory amplifier and factory navigation unit (if equipped). Sorry I don't have an actual solution for you.

All good! Still trying to wrap my head around this. I have no fuse in for the radio & it still plays lol so i guess that makes sense

Think of the head unit as a big fat remote control for your car stereo system. If the remote for your home stereo died, your home stereo would still play music too. The difference is your home stereo has another set of controls directly on the receiver/amplifier unit itself, while your car does not, because they're hidden away in the trunk. If I had to take guesses a fuse would be a good place to start, but it would make me wonder why the fuse would blow in the first place. After that, maybe something came loose behind the head unit, or maybe it just died. The fact that the amplifier and FM tuner are still working is a good sign, that means there is still communication happening between components.

I switched out the 7.5 fuse with another one & now the whole system just says AUDIO OFF even after putting them back in place / rotating them wtf. I was riding around without the fuse earlier.

For anyone reading into this. I think i may have found possibly the issue. & that maybe the head unit is dead. the audio worked until i messed with the fuses. I’m thinking whatever i did set audio to off & me having no control over being able to click it on with the volume **** has left me audioless.
this is my theory because that section was quite literally dead. No illumination. If the amp was dead the head unit would still illuminate regardless so.
