Default Motor Mounts

I've got a 08 LS
I'm at 170K miles. I'm feeling more vibrations while in drive but not moving. While in park there's no vibration. The idle/rpm gage is steady at .5 which I'm told is normal. Is this a sign of needing new motor mounts? & if so, do u recommend doing all 3?

If that means your car is idling at 500 rpms then that's kinda low but it would depend on if all accessories are on or off. With the AC or heater on they usually idle at 700-750 rpms in gear at operating temps. Your car is an 08 so new mounts will most likely show an improvement but won't be the cause of a low idle.
That's a job best done on a hoist and will be a few bucks done in a shop.

I've got 150K or so on my 2013 LS. Got the car back from he shop several months ago and you could feel vibrations that were not there before. Went back and forth with the shop (LS Dealer) and eventually did a test drive. With me int he car they noticed the vibrations. They ended up replacing the motor mounts - not sure how many there are - but that fixed the issue.

How much did the the ls dealer charge you in labor to replace the motor mounts? And how long did it take them to complete it? On your repair order it should say how many labor hours they charged you. I have a 07 ls460 with 194k and i have to do mine also, and i am trying to find out labor time and price .I have been getting different prices and labor hours from shops in my area.

Sorry for the delayed response. The invoice - Lexus Par Place Grapevine TX - say the following:
  • Replace Left Hand Engine Mount, engine front mounting, bracket and/or insulator - parts: $197.92, labor: $1,819.73 (yes you read that correctly), Other $150. total $2,167.65
  • Replace Right Hand Engine Mount Parts: $197.92, Labor $599.91. total $797.83
  • Cost to me: ZERO because I purchased a Lexus extended warranty when I got the car in 2018. Warranty expires this May.
Hope this info helps.

I'll tackle mine right on my smooth unshaded gravel driveway, I hate gravel.

This doesn't make any sense. I had an engine mount replaced in my 08 LS460 and it was $450 Australian for part **and** labour. Don't remember which side it was but that's kindof irrelevant.

Can't say I disagree with you, but that's what is on the invoice.

This is the thing. IN THE BOOK, the subframe has to be dropped to do motor mounts. That's not necessary true/the only way. It can be done without dropping the subframe. The labor charges are way different. I bought aftermarket mounts & spent just under $300 for all three mounts. Spent $350 in labor charges. Totaling about $675 after tax etc.

It would be helpful for my Brisbane based members if I could get the name and/or link for the workshop, provided that you think they are reputable.

Thanks.

The shop isn't there anymore unfortunately. It was at the base of Mt Cootha, attached to the servo that is next to the roundabout leading to the highway/Mt Cootha. But that whole building was getting demolished last time I saw.
The may have moved, i'll see if I can find an invoice from them.
